I am still collecting the expansion packs for Sims 2 dammit!
What the heck is this Nevernude personality? I am addicted to Sims 2, I am ashamed to say.
“In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.” -Michael Jackson
I stop collecting just as soon as I heard there was going to be a Sims 3. I love The Sims games. But I felt it was going to be all a waste once Sim 3 came around.
I just look at this as part of the game. I've spent about $650 on The Sims 2 over the last 4 years (ALL EPs and SPs - and ALL Prima Guides), and I've had a blast with it. It's about the same cost as an MMORPG (about $13 a month) - but at least I'll own these games forever.
I was a big Sims fan. Bought Sims 2 and sort of lost interest at some point. I'll probably buy 3, but unless it offers extremely enhanced game play, I may not play it for long.
I was the same with the last Sim City. I couldn't wait for it, but then played it for about a week and never opened it again.
The gameplay has changed. Instead of focusing on the micro-management of Needs, the Sims are much smarter - and work on their own needs. Instead, the goal of the player is to mold the lives of The Sims. The days of only being stuck on your lot - or just loading to another lot are gone. Instead, time now passes across all lots (if you want) - so while you're working on your family, other actions are taking place in the Neighborhood. There's loads of new job options, and all kinds of cool stuff. EGM did a a great overview several months ago about it, and SnootySims has all the latest news.
