Hard to believe that it's been 20 years since Kevin Flynn has disappeared. While I was only just 2 years old at the time, his story and games have been passed on to generation to generation.
Space Paranoids, Matrix Blaster and all of ENCONs old arcade games call back to a simpler time when it wasn't all 3D and HD - but the simple addictive gameplay that made gaming what it is today. Sure I can play these in emulators now, but I always wonder what it was like to actually go to the arcade and drop quarters into these machines, it loses some of the charm when I can just hit 'new game'.
Flynn was ENCONs CEO for only 7 years, and then he 'dissappeared'. The stock did well, but since then fCon has taken over ENCOM. Too bad too, but it's never been the same since Flynn left.
Anyway, there's a Flynn Lives meetup tonight in San Diego. Anyone going?
