Some kids on several websites have claimed to be "remaking" VMK, but none of them really did. Besides, Disney still owns the patents and copyrights on VMK, so anyone making a true clone of VMK would face severe legal action.

Incorrect. Disney has always owned every part of VMK. Just because they retired the game does not mean they lost ownership of it.
