    Spamming and 'Double Posting' Issues

Here on MCV, there seems to be some confusion on what Spamming is, and our policy on 'double posting'. Hopefully, this post will clear up any issues:

Spamming - On MiceChat, and MCV, Spamming is considered posts that advertise another users website, or only used to advertise their services.

Double Posting - MiceChat has no offical rules against 'double posting' (posting twice in a row in the same thread). Since there is no offical policy, please do not reprimand other members, or give them negative reputation for Double Posting.

I hope this clears up any confusion!

Re: Spamming and 'Double Posting' Issues

Thank you Monorail for the clarification!

The report button and the Rep system is an important part of our site, and helps us to keep an eye on things and to make sure we maintain a safe, fun experience for everyone!

Please continue to use the Report Button when you have a concern, or think a rule has been broken! In this way we can monitor and investigate the situation and take any action that may be needed. It might turn out to be nothing, but I for one would rather know about something going on before it escalates into something more serious.

Thanks everyone for helping us keep this a great place to hang out and meet new friends and have fun!

MM, since double posting and redundant posts do bother some of us, I would like to suggest a rule change. WOuld it be possible to disallow one to post more than once in less than 5 minutes or so?

Double postings are petpeves of mine, not official rules..

you will see posts edited by me saying:

edited by: Figment1986, Please don't double post

just remember that while its not against the rules, I might do that from time to time. nothing is wrong.

Doesn't that muddy the waters a bit. If there is no rule against it, why would you ask people (as a moderator with authority) not to do it??

it' encouraging... because threads are only suppose to have 2,000 posts...

some of your threads get 2,000 in 2 days...

that, and it cleans up the database a bit.. allowing for more posts. (and some double posts are that, same thing posted twice by accident)

Its more a matter of board etiquette/manners than anything else. There is a 30 second rule in place, no once can post more than once in 30 seconds but often the same person has two (or more) posts show up in a row.

Its considered "rude" or bad form by some members to post twice or more in a row.

It happens. Its less of a problem in the regular forums of MiceChat than in here, not because it doesn't happen but because most of the time things like that happen in forums like the Fun and Games Lounge where we don't pay that much attention to that kind of thing.

Re: Spamming and 'Double Posting' Issues

I personally see no problems with it. If you are addressing several different posts at one time, multiple posts make things much more streamlined and clearer. It makes things easier on the eyes, in my opinion. Work on spelling and grammar first.
