i got there just after it ended & everyone was complaining about how lame it was. the VMK staffer was apologizing & basically said to go easy on them since this was their first try.

Someone's in thre now saying a parade is about to start
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    Question VMK Quest

Have they started the Disney VMK Quest at DL yet?
And if they have, how exactly does it work?

    Field report

The "VMK Summer Bash" was awful.

    Promised were:

    Parade
    "Summer Gear" contest (best outfit)
    Scavenger hunt.

    Delivered:
    Ummm...

Well, some people are claiming that having a VMK CM tell you to line up in the middle of the street was a 'parade'.

The 'contest' as far as I'm aware never happened. I've seen claims that someone got a prize, but absolutely nothing made it into VMK public about it.

The 'scavenger hunt' was an announcement to 'find person x'. First, it happened just as we were told to line up - thus leading to the dilemma: do you break ranks, and risk missing the rest of the event? We didn't know it wasn't going to happen at that point, so it was a real concern. No questions were answered, as our guiding CM vanished just before the popup. Second, VMK is *huge*. For those unaware of the tech behind it, VMK works off of subrooms for each area - if you're on "Main Street", you're on one of however many they've created to handle the population load. It's why there may be a thousand people playing, but you'll only ever see 10. So what the 'scavenger hunt' meant was that somewhere out of the THOUSAND OR MORE instanced rooms in VMK, *one* person was sitting, and you were supposed to find them. Huh?

Overall, this was a real waste of time. Honestly, if I'd been told that this wasn't an 'event', but was simply a 'server load test', I'd still have tried to be there - it's funny to watch tech fry, so long as it's not yours. But there was a lot promised, and nothing delivered.

As my GF commented as I got angrier by the minute...

    "Pressler would have been proud."

The semi-official VMK boards (only shiny happy opinions allowed, please) quote one of the developers as saying the DL VMK quests will open on July 17th. WDW is currently active, and the DL VMK kiosks are working - I've seen a few 'born in' DL peeps.

I've seen screenies of the WDW quests, and they're fairly park specific - "How many carpets fly for Aladdin" and the like. Hopefully the DL quests will be the same. On the good side, the prizes as pictured are (I believe) all available in game already, so those unable to reach the park won't be pooched.

It looks like most of what they're using currently is either slightly redone artwork (i.e., briars around the sword in the stone) or recolors/withdrawn colors (red Aladdin carpet).
There are three quests per land, one reward per quest, plus a wristband that has a code that noone's telling what they got yet.

Pictured on the WDW quest cards are:

    Adventureland quests:
"Adventureland Retro Pin" (not Shag artwork, but suggestive of).
    "Aladdin's Flying Carpet Chair"
    "Adventureland Explorer's Suitcase Sofa"

    Frontierland quests:
    "Frontierland Ace of Spades Carpet"
    "Frontierland Cactus Armchair"
    "Frontierland Saddle Seat Sofa"

    Fantasyland quests:
    "Fantasyland Castle Retro pin"
    "Prince Phillip's Briarstone"
    "Huntsman's Heartless Hamper"

Ahh yes. Load tests are fun. It was extramly obvious that this what what they wanted. as a real bash has much more hype then just a pop-up.

    Its Virtual Light Magic!

Well, at about 4:50 the front page saif there was 880 members online. The game did seem to slow down a bit, but it could have just been my computer. Plus, it was impossible to enter any land or Guest Room without bein stuck in line behind at least 3 other people.

I wasn't there, but it sounds kind of like a taxi driver in a tuxedo- all dressed up with no place to go.

yeah it was a bit disappointing. the hunt was totally confusing. i didn't even have a concept of whom i was searching! the dancing and excitement at the beginning was fun. there were some new friends made, then a lot of venting in guest rooms afterwards. lol
