Exclamation My Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 park has just turned 50!!!!

I have some interesting news. For the first time ever, in my life, I have successsfully had one of my theme parks on Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 running for 52 years!!! To me, thats cool. I found it quite ironic that my park turned 50 around the same time Disneyland did too. I wonder how many more years I will get to operate this park. Does anyone know if there is a certain amount of years that your parks can be opened until they are closed down for being opened to long? Or can we keep the parks opened for thousands of years? Some of the opening day rides in my park are still operating too!

Cool! I've only just gotten RCT2 and am learning how to use it

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I've just come from playing RCTC2 right now. My park is called Disney's Electric Wharf, and half the park is water. The only connection it has to Disney is a giant water/flower display shaped like a Mickey silohuette though.

I'm thinking about going to the scenario editor, expanding the land as much as I can and turn it all into water. I have done half of it so far and it is time consuming. Then I made another park that is just mountains and I have to try and build most of the rides underground. Man that is hard just trying to get the entrance queue lines from the rides to match up with the walkways. First you would think the two are lined up perfectly, but then from another angle you would see that they are far off.

My 52 year old park is called Westernland. I even have some entertainers still around from year 1.

I hate that! Path building is my nemesis! Just when I think I have something lined up, it isn't!

Congrats! I've been a Rollercoaster tycoon fan since 1999 such a fun game! I do miss RCT2 it was so easy to build Disney like parks in RCT3 it's not the same and very hard to recreate Disney type rides etc.

I have not gotten to RCT 3 yet. I've heard too many bad reviews about it.

What themes do you guys incorporate into your parks?

So far my 52 yr old Westernland park has these themes:

    A wild West Ghost Town
    Mars
Tinsel-toon town (An area where cartoons and hollywood clash.)
Main Street (also part of toon-tinsel town)
A Roman area invaded by pirates
    A midievel Kingdom
    A pre-historic Dino area
    and an Ice Area.

To top it all off I have a big lake in the middle of the park that really makes it look peaceful and beautiful.

Just remember, when it comes to user reviews, you commonly hear more bad then good. With the expansion that came out for it, it's firly optimized, and a good play now. While RCT2 is long from dead, more people are heading to RCT3, and it's a great game (now that more users are making custom content a reality). It's got a few bugs, but then so did RCT2. (Heck, you couldn't even run the ferris wheel backwords!) RCT3 is VERY demanding on your system, but a good system helps.

Thats another thing. Even though I have a brand new Dell Computer in the other room that I play games on, I do not want to take the chance of having RCT3 freeze each time I play it. But I have a feeling someday (when prices are cheap) I probably will get it.

I LOVE RCT3!!! But it doesn't run for more than an hour without crashing my 2 year old computer. So I don't play it as often as I'd like due to the frustration.

Often I just play with the fireworks utility that lets you program your own fireworks show. You can even import your own music. I ripped the Believe music to MP3 and uploaded to RCT3. Then I programmed my own show. Fun to hear the Believe music suddenly pop up in my own virtual Disneyland.

I wonder what type of computer would play RCT 3 flawlessly. I heard that Frontier (the creators of the game) is located somewhere in Europe or England. So maybe due to the fact that their technology is different over there, that is why the game wont play perfectly with some of our computers.

I wish I could see your fireworks show. If I were to choreograph the fireworks to a song, the song I would want to use is Rainbow Connection from the Muppets. I am not ashamed to admit that I love that song.

Can anyone else tell me the flaws and "plusses" of RCT 3?

Re: My Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 park has just turned 50!!!!

I am so angry that I can't play RCT1-3 on my MAC. I even wrote directly to Chris Sawyer and his publicist replied saying that Chris Sawyer is a meticulous perfectionist and only knew how to write for PC's (I am paraphrasing) hence he would not trust someone to translate it into a language he could not personally oversee. Then RCT3 happened and another company wrote that code, but they still haven't done anything for my MAC.

I borrowed my friends PC for a couple of months and I got through most of RCT1 Gold edition. I filled Arid Heights (My favorite scenario) and I ran out of people to hire. I make sure everything is lush and beautiful, but I shy from using flowers as they die too quickly and I never use Lamp posts because they always get torn down.

I tried RCT3, but I just did not like it. I did appreciate the effort they put into busting into the 3D realm, but like any big change it'll take another version to work the kinks out.
