A first look at Pixie Hollow

Part One:

Disney has not yet officially started its Pixie Hollow/Fairies game, but you can get a head start by creating a fairy(s) now. I spent some time creating my own little fairy to see if I could get a feel for how this part of the new Disney Online experience might be.

The first thing you are asked is to give your fairy a talent. Each talent gives them different special powers.

Next you select your size (its a fairy... they are TINY!).

Next is the face, skin tone and eye color...

Part Two:

But you're not done yet!! What self respecting fairy would be complete without... bling!!

Shoes, clothes, and jewelry complete with color selection comes next.

Now you get to name your fairy. In this part instead of getting to select what name you want, you pick from a list of names that are available. You can hit the random button, and let the computer pick for you or select from the list.

You can "pose" your fairy. (Not sure why)

Finally, your fairy is complete! You can print out a picture of her if you want. Be sure to save for the next step.

At this point your fairy is pretty much complete. You now put her into her "home" where you can add furniture and accessories and a few other minor things. (And no, penguin wasn't one of the choices for favorite animal. ;))

If you scroll down, there are places for messages, a friend list...

And under the friend list, a section for rating. Will your friends come and rate your fairy and her room? No idea yet, but it looks like that is what it is set up for.

Right now the only thing you can do is a few online games, but according to the site once the virtual world is open you will be able to fly your fairy/pixy into the virtual world of Pixie Hollow. The preview movie looks pretty impressive graphic wise. Much like the world of VMK and other virtual worlds, the fairy you create will "fly" around the new world and interact with other fairies. What those interactions will be? We'll have to wait and see.

First impressions;

It was very time consuming creating my fairy for the first time. But then again at the same time, I was reminded of my youth playing with paper dolls. This is definitely a game that girls 10-14 will most likely be interested in. But I can't see it being a cross over to adults in the same way that the VMK was.

Of course... I could be wrong. ;)

The graphics look stunning, now if they have a good story line and a good interactive environment that will keep the members engaged, this could be a winner for Disney Online Gaming.

Hmmm ... I think I'll give it a whirl.

Oh so this is what they were talking about when they said Fairies! I made a fairy about a year ago - there's not too much to do on the site currently, but I can't wait to see what comes in the future!

Cars is the other online world. I guess they wanted a stereotypical boy game and girl game.

Are you talking about in Fairies or in Disney XD?
If you're talking about in Fairies, I'm not really sure.

But you can get D-points in DXD by watching videos, playing multiplayer games, or completing adventures.

I was wondering what this was for, I got my fairies (I have three) a few months back.

I saw this last night - I put together a fairy last night just for the fun of it. It was something like Jenny SnowMeadow or something.

Wow, it sure is pretty! I kinda think I want one, too!
