Finally - "24" Returns! Jack is Back For Day Seven!

No rest on the seventh day for our friend, CTU agent Jack Bauer.

On "day" six, the writers did what terrorists have failed to do for almost a "week" now - get Jack out of the way.

Set and shot on location in Africa, Bauer and mentor Carl Benton battle an international crisis, while here at home the nation prepares for a new president on inauguration day. Taking place just a few months before the new day dawns, U.S. State Department officer Frank Tramell and Jonah Hodges are pulling the strings that will set the stage and raise the stakes for Season Seven.

After a long dry spell, we "24" diehards can hardly wait for Sunday night. Your thoughts? The clock is ticking ...

PS...Dennis Haysbert played an African-American president on this show. Talk about life imitating art...

Interesting setup for season 7. Just not happy about having to wait until January 11th for it to start now! I need my weekly Jack Bauer fix!

Yeah, that 2 hour preview is on tonight. I'm taping it so I can watch it later with no commercials. I agree, I'm glad the show is back, but we are going to forget everything again by January. They should have shown this preview the week before it started or the day before, IMO.
Wow...I've been gone a long time...but I'm glad to be back!!

Last night's episode was the first of 24 I've ever watched.

I can't believe what I've been missing! Now I want to go and pick up Seasons 1-6 on DVD.

Yes I too started watching the show late...I think I missed seasons 1-3 or 4. But I've very hooked now!

Pretty good film. I like that season 6 and this film have contributed a lot more to Jack's character.

Just remember that this is a show you have to watch EVERY WEEK. You miss one episode and it'll take you 2 weeks to catch up.

Re: Finally - "24" Returns! Jack is Back For Day Seven!

After a terrible, often unwatchable season 6, the movie (Redemption) bodes well for the series.

Jack was portrayed as a bit too saintly, in his need to save the children. Seemed over the top. Parts were silly - Robert Carlyle's character keeps his foot pushed down on a mine despite being shot, twice.

Overall it was good, and felt like the show was going back to its roots, even though it had a vague feeling of being 24's greatest hits, going through the motions we've seen many times before.

I'd like to see the show focus on more simple plots. The show was perfectly effective when focusing on a single building (season 3) or a kidnapping and potential assasination (season 1). It seems that in later seasons they feel they had to go big, and we ended up with nuclear bombs going off in Los Angeles. It went too far.

If memory serves, season 4 was my favorite so far.

Ok who remembered to watch tonight? Thoughts? Predictions?

I'm very curious to see what made Tony turn to "the dark side". And I already have a few candidates on who the mole(s) in the FBI is/are. I saw in the previews Chole will be back. That will be interesting. I love her and want to smack her at the same time.

Re: Finally - "24" Returns! Jack is Back For Day Seven!

I'll have comments once I watch tonights episodes ... tomorrow.

As for last nights, it's GREAT to have Jack back.

    That being said:

Seems that a few things are 24 staples that just aren't going away:

    - Good agent gone bad
    - Somebody inside working for the bad guys
    - An inept, or un-confident President
    - Presidents family kinda wacky

BC_DG ... I thought season 6 was good, season 5 was the stinker for me (I think).

I still need to get them all on DVD.

Oh, man got home late and didn't see the first hour. D'oh.
So, much for going to Best Buy to find Smallville Season 7 and Birds of Prey The Complete Series they didn't have any. So I just ask for a rain check since both sets are 19.99.
Most of the season sets of 24 are on special at Best Buy during summer and after Christmas.

    That's awesome Aimster.

I will say however, that night 2 was infinitely better than night 1. There were quite a few surprises, 1 that I was expecting though.

    Spoiler
Tony not being bad ... or is he. Seems too early in the season to be convinced somebody is good or bad.

It's just so great to see one of the best shows on television back on the air.

And I think that Cherry Jones will be a real asset to the show. She's much more believable as a president than Geena Davis was (remember Commander In Chief)?
