Great show. I dunno though, Will Ferrell and Pearl Jam were both a little disappointing, Conan didn't let me down though.
I agree... the guests today weren't that terrific. Something about Will Ferrell at times that seems very insincere. As if he's trying to act funny but doesn't quite pull it off. His entrance was quite spectacular though!
My review: he repeats himself too much, and the excessive applauding at the beginning has to go. Changing these would mean more actual content.
He has to change his style of interviewing for the larger studio audience. He is holding back a lot of his idiosyncrasies such as commenting on his current situation as it happens, discussing the audience reaction, talking about his own experiences during an interview, basically hijacking it from the guest. Some of those things are annoying, but that's who he is, and he'll be more comfortable being himself instead of trying to be Johnny Carson.
The mix on Pearl Jam sucked royally. I'm not sure whether this was performed before Conan's taping, as Jay used to do, mainly to make sure the mix is right. Can do multiple performances adjusting the knobs. He'll learn. Being on the West coast, he doesn't have as much time to fix things before it airs on the East Coast (assuming the standard 5-7 taping time).
