American Idol Season 9

Wow, they certainly let through some questionable people, especially on the men's side. I thought Thaddeus was CERTAINLY better than some of the others they put through.

And already rumors are flying around that Chris Golightly is out and Tim Urban (whoever that is) is in.

I'm starting to think they have to have so many from different "Groups or Genres" or the producers won't be happy? IMO, maybe 1 or 2 of the "white guys" deserved to be there. What, they couldn't have 4 African American guys?

Yeah, Chris Golightly is out and Tim Urban is in. It seems Chris had an old contract and never told American Idol so he was cut.
Also Michael Lynche has been cut because his father told St. Petersburg Times that his son has made it to the Top 24. This happen before the broadcasting of who made it to the Top 24. Michael Lynche has signed a recording contract with Hood Famous Music. Michael Lynche was replaced by Antwan Michael.

loved the show last night.. still dont really have a favorite yet though, there were a couple of girls last night I thought were great. But the judges thought otherwise

i thought the majority of the girls were (to use a Simon phrase) dreadful last night! it was really disappointing and i hope the boys are better tonight, tho i dont' see how they could be much worse

I was pretty underwhelmed with all of them if I'm being honest.

There is the one hot blond chick that needs to stay (forget the name). The folksy chick needs to stay. And the chick that sang Alicia Keys I thought was pretty good. Other than that, it was all pretty forgettable.

I couldn't help but watch a few of them and think "They got rid of other people for HER"!?!?

I completely agree. What a snoozer season so far. I don't see HALF of the talent that we've seen in the past couple of seasons. Maybe next week will be different, but I'm not seeing a David Cook, Carey Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry or Adam Lambert this year....

I like how Simon told one of the guys tonight that he didn't have a great voice.

Um....If he doesn't have a great voice, WHY did you people stick him in the top 24???

the girls in this season's competition are really weak compared to the guys..

i'm trying to remember my favorites from the girls show last night but i can't.. so that says something.

as far as tonight's guys' show, my favorites were Lee Dewyze and Andrew Garcia. loved Lee's rendition of Chasing Cars and i felt that his voice DID fit the song (unlike the judges), but i WISH he stayed a bit more true to the melody. kara was right in saying that he turned the song almost unrecognizable.

Andrew didn't do as well as i wanted him to. and i am a bit biased because we've met and we have mutual friends. but he's been a famous youtube star for years and i feel like he hasn't shown much versatility when it comes to performing without his guitar or just doing acoustic versions of songs we normally wouldn't think (even if they might be great renditions).

i really liked Casey and Andrew tonight, altho Andrew's song wasn't as strong as Straight Up was

other than that..it was rather hohum, i hope they pick things up a bit next week

I've watched American Idol since the first show. I've been to many of the final shows both at the Kodak and the Nokia. I've probably watched less of this season than any other season of Idol, mostly because I've just been too busy. From the little I have seen, I will say Ellen is absolutely worthless as a judge on American Idol. I didn't think she would be good fit, and she is not. Ellen actually makes Paula look good. Ellen is fine on her own show, but not American Idol.
