this is definitely going to be a different season than all the other ones, with no paula and guest judges coming left and right, it's either going to be a good season or a bad one

The show will be strange without Paula, and I can't see Ellen really working with this show, but I'll still watch. I've been to several of the finale shows, including the last two, so I'm sure I'll be following along as usual to the very end.

I agree that no Paula will be weird indeed. I will miss her. Hopefully the show will be good anyway... I am excited to see it. I love American Idol!!

I heard that Simon was leaving after this season. If that happens I am DEFINITELY never watching American Idol again...I might make an exception for the auditions though cause they make me laugh.

Paula was the only judge on idol that has become a performing entertainment legend. Although I enjoy watching Idol, there are many avenues to success besides talent shows. The historical thing about the televised talent shows in general is that one never really knows where the scripting ends and the real contest begins.
Paula Abdul has been criticized by industry critics as a judge that rarely says anything compelling, and as one that dribbles on unpredictably yet uses the same old schtick. Truth is, she is multitalented all the way around. From what 've seen, "real" people on high profile judges panels are rare indeed. I'm glad that she was there all that time.. adding sweetness and encouragement into the lives of one contestant after another... win, lose or draw. She never stepped on any other person's dreams.
Now, the good news is that the icon (in the earned and truest sense) has confirmed a new album and tour in the works! Perhaps her comeback will be sometime this year or next. You just go, Paula! We love you.

I hope not. I would stop watching American Idol too. He's alot of the reason why I watch it. That has always been my vision for what would make American Idol "Jump the Shark".I heard that Simon was leaving after this season.
