    Doctor Who - Season 5

Spring is almost here and that means that Season 5 of Doctor Who is almost upon us.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnPUF8an-XE"]YouTube - Doctor Who: Series 5 Preview - BBC One[/ame]

The Doctor returns with a new face and a new TARDIS.

A bit of news about series 5.

The titles of the first three episodes of series 5 have been announced by Steven Moffat.

I'll put spoiler tags on this just in case you don't want to know.

    Spoiler
The series begins with The Eleventh Hour written by Moffat himself and is believed to follow directly on from the regeneration in The End of Time. Episode Two is The Beast Below also by Moffat with Episode Three seeing the return of the Doctor's greatest foe in Victory of the Daleks by Mark Gatiss.

And author Neil Gaiman has confirmed he will be writing an episode of Doctor Who for Matt Smith's second series as The Doctor.

    That's it for now.

I leave you with a nice fan video from the tube.
I usually don't like fan vids but this one I like.
It takes you through all the title sequences from 1963 to the present.

Enjoy, and see you in the TARDIS.

I can't wait for this. I though he did a great job for the last 30 seconds of Season 4. Excited to see where they take his character and for the new TARDIS. The preview looks amazing.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

I am eagerly anticipating the next season! I really will miss David Tennant but Matt Smith impressed me at the very end of "The End of Time" and I can't wait to see him in full action as The Doctor. Moffat has done nothing but sing Matt's praises since they have started shooting so I am actually excited to see what Matt is bringing to the role. I hope he differs enough from David Tennant that we don't get too many of the (inevitable) comparisons. Have they announced the day it is coming back yet in Britain?

Re: Doctor Who - Season 5

There's no exact air date for season 5, just that it will start some time in the spring.

I'm looking forward to what Steven Moffat brings to the show. Knowing he'll have a different take on the over all story line and character development.

And the changing of the Doctor always is an uncertain time for Doctor Who fans and followers. The anticipation of someone new but not being able to forget the past incarnations. It's a very unique part of the show that you really don't get with any other television program.

That was an excellent quote and its so true
I'm not worried though, I am quite excited. The trailer for season 5 looked incredible and I'm a huge fan of Moffet's. His episodes were some of the best in all of Nu Who. Plus you have Bill Nighy recently cast in an one of the upcoming episodes, who is one of my favorite actors of all time and I just can't wait to see how the whole thing turns out!

Re: Doctor Who - Season 5

Greetings Whovians from all over the Whoniverse.

Here's a few links to the latest Doctor Who Confidential titled The Eleventh Doctor.

The show introduces the incoming Doctor Matt Smith and how he relates to the other incarnations of both the classic series and the current show.

The episode covers the character of the Doctor from the very beginning of the show starting in 1963 up to Matt Smith. If your not familiar with the classic series this is a nice introduction.

If you want to cheat and see Matt Smith watch the last two segments.

    On with the show.

    Enjoy.

    It's almost here!

BBC America has announced that their broadcasts of the new series of Doctor Who will start on April 17th. The date has been reported in the Hollywood trade paper Variety, and has been confirmed on BBC America's website and Facebook page.

The start date for UK broadcast has not yet been officially confirmed. There are reports that a trailer has aired with the date of April 3rd, but this may have been broadcast in error. The BBC's official position is that the series will debut "at Easter".

Re: Doctor Who - Season 5

I loved how Matt Smith handled his regeneration in the middle of a crash. He captured that sort of frantic, stream of consciousness wit that David Tennant did so well.

In slightly unrelated news, but a big deal... the other night, my wife actually ASKED if we could see if there were any Dr. Who episodes on. =D

Re: Doctor Who - Season 5

First episode has just aired TV in the UK. Out of respect to everyone waiting for BBC America to air it, I will hold back on revealing any spoilers. But what I will say is that it was a great episode, and Matt Smith is perfect in his role as the Doctor.
