Re: Michael Eisner on The View-in about ten minutes!

I for one am going to buy the book. There is so much resentment towards him that it's difficult to truly decipher the facts without coming up against baseless demonizing of his life and work. For example, Yes DL was on the fringe from the late 80's through the early 2000's but how much of that was purely Eisner and not a combination of the sick management skills of Cynthia Harris and Paul Pressler, lets not forget about those guys.

I'm not saying that I'm a fan of the guy, I'm just opposed to making unfounded claims based on how I would run a theme park, let alone a multi billion dollar conglomerate.

Did they ask him why he is such a terrible human being?

I think this is a bit much! he may be a lot of things but to call someone a terrible human being because you didnt like his business decisions is taking things a bit far! IMO

I might buy the book, or maybe I should wait for his book that more exclusively talks about disney.

    Sounds refreshingly honest to me.
Thank you for posting that excerpt (in post #19), Sir.mouse!

Could you imagine how cool it would have been to have been in Eisner's shoes when he was CEO? He made a few hundred million, so that might more than comforting. His grandkids will have nice homes, nearly unlimited travel, and will never have to stay at unpleasant jobs.

And he has many accomplishments to be proud of. Robert A.M. Stern's architecture, for example.

The living former Disney exec. I root for is Jeffrey Katzenberg, whom Eisner didn't treat well in the end. Katzenberg may have than also been bad when he rushed out "Antz" to try and beat Pixar's ultimately more-successful "A Bug's Life," but I'll use this tangent to reiterate that I think it would be nice if Jeffrey Katzenberg were invited to the opening of "The Little Mermaid Ride." And why not Eisner too, while we're at it. But perhaps not Pressler--that might be over-doing it.

Man, do I need to get a life!

I think it would be kind of fun to interview Eisner and ask him what he thinks of the changes underway at DCA
    Trips coming up:

    May 22-26th
    July 13th-18th
    November 19th-25th

had your statement did they ask him how he had a total lack of imagination and creativity in his creations at Disney I would have completely agreed with you! However I still don't think those really bad moves makes him a horrible human being!

that would be an interesting gesture on DL's part. It makes sense since for them to be there and it would also be like mending fences. However, I don't see Disney really doing that unless some sort of business gain is involved. Sadly.
