    Dr. Who Series 6

Some big news out today about Series 6.

Doctor Who to Film in the U.S. for the First Time - ComingSoon.net

Sounds like it's going to be a pretty intense season. Neil Gaiman writing, going to America for the first time (officially, not faking it). Filming here in Utah.... (yay Utah!). Can't wait for this all to start airing.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

Not sure where in Utah. Nothing on the Utah Film Commissions website and they are usually pretty good about listing things that are/will be in state. May not have been posted yet. I'll keep an eye on it.

The article does mention "deserts" and that usually points to the area around Moab, Escalante Staircase or the Book Cliffs. Though some times it ends up as Lake Meade area. Just depends on the exact "desert" look they are going for. I sent a few notes out to people I know around here who have worked with/in films before to see if they've heard anything. I'll post any news I hear.

I wonder if they might be filming in Monument Valley?
The entrance to Monument Valley is in Utah, but the formations themselves are in Arizona.
But it's still marked as being in Utah.

I can't think of a more iconic place that say's America than Monument Valley.
Europeans love the southwest, so it would make sense to film there.

The TARDIS in front of the Mittens, now that would be cool!

British hit "Doctor Who" to shoot in Utah | Culture Vulture | The Salt Lake Tribune

Found this this morning from our local paper yesterday. So the location is still completely unknown. Desert could be a lot of places around here. Moab has been filmed a bunch for things and has nice towns nearby to base production out of. St George also gets used a lot for things given its proximity to Snow Canyon and Zion's National Park. Bryce Canyon area, Goblin Valley, Escalante Staircase, the Book Cliffs... so many possible locations.

    Re: Dr. Who Series 6

Here's some Doctor Who related news.

Remember the Doctor Who TV movie back in 1996?

Paul McGann was a guest at the Armageddon Pop Culture Expo (Auckland, New Zealand) this weekend. On Saturday he appeared on a panel and revealed what is to be the 'new' costume for the Eighth Doctor.

The costume consists of a double-breasted black Naval jacket, with gold buttons. Part of of the ensemble is a courier pouch bag. However, the shirt and trousers were actually McGann's own and not part of the costume.

Also revealed is a new sonic screwdriver, courtesy of Weta Workshop, the wizards behind the effects on The Lord of the Rings. The screwdriver is similar to the one used by the current Doctor, Matt Smith, but has a wooden handle.

The revision comes some fourteen years since the original Eighth Doctor image was established for the 1996 TV Movie; this is now felt to be a little out of date and the new costume - still a work in progress - is said to be used for future promotional purposes.

No other information in known at present, but it is believed to have the blessing of the BBC.

This has fueled speculation that he might make a return to the TV show.
Possibly for the 50th anniversary in 2013. Crazy! 50 years almost!

    More Doctor Who news...

Also at the same convention, Sylvester McCoy has told fans he has been cast as Radagast the Brown in the upcoming film The Hobbit.

Rumours of the Seventh Doctor's involvement in the Peter Jackson film have been around for a while but this is the first conformation from the actor that he has been offered a role in the movie.

And one final image to get you excited.
This is publicity photo for the upcoming Sarah Jane Adventures episode "Death of the Doctor" involving the Eleventh Doctor and a companion from the Third Doctors era, Jo Grant played by Katy Manning.

    That's it for now.

    See you in the TARDIS!

A note on the Christmas Special. It will air here in the States on Christmas day, so I won't have to slug it out on utube.

    That's it for now.
