Re: Are there any commercials that force you to change the channel?

Which Old Navy ads? There are so many, and they're all so obnoxious, it's hard to choose which ones are worst. One ad that I hate, and I almost forgot about it: the eTrade baby ads. I cannot stand those ads; I can suspend my disbelief for movies and TV and books, but when it comes to ads, I'm a harder sell. All I do is shout at my TV, "Babies can't talk!" Even aside from that, it's just such a creepy special effect.

I dislike most commercials, but some of them I can tolerate. At least for a moment. Others are so darn loud, I can't stand it. Some of the law-firm ones are like that. They just scream and I can't stand it.

I'd watch them if they were clever at all, or for a product I'm interested in, and if the volume were normal/matched the show I'm watching.

Yeah, the Capital One Vikings are awesome, and I will frequently let those play.

The Carl's, Jr. commercials! The "That's all turkeys are good for" makes me so mad. It's an adorable turkey that they show, then they cut to a slab of turkey corpse burger and say the smug thats all turkeys are good for - burgers and thats just the way it is makes me want to cry. I love my DVR, though, but I hate when something's on live TV and I have to sit through it!

Yes, they are obnoxious. I'm watching real TV because I hate YouTube, so I don't like when they make videos look like that.

Someone yelling for 30 seconds especially when most t.v. show audio levels are lower and commercial audio levels are higher. I dive for that mute button!
Then curse Universal Studios for putting out such an annoying commercial.

And I'm over the whole computer morphing thing and 3-D in general.
Can I have my giant animatronic ape back?

And another thing....damn kids get off my lawn!

    Rant over. LOL
I hate that, too. It's not the screaming that gets me, it's seeing peoples flesh on their face jiggle and get thrown around up close, zoomed huge, in slow motion, and their spit goes flying. It grosses me out. It's not like you see that in real life to notice it, it's not up close or in slow motion, but that commercial makes me want to vomit while I'm eating and watching it.

I don't like the AT&T commercial where a spider shows up on the smart phone display and a lady gets up and starts screaming like there's no tomorrow while a man breaks the phone with his shoe; I have to dive for the remote and mute it. Also the commercial where there's a man squashed by a big boulder holding a bag of chips, he gets one and bites into it so that someone will hear him and a rescuer is lowered from a helicopter and takes the bag of chips without rescuing him. That's so mean.

Wondering the same thing. I checked to see if this thread was started in 2002 or something.
Question for those of us living in the present: what commercials do you NOT zap through? Capital One, Dos Equis....

If I'm fast forwarding through the commercials I'll sometimes see were we live flash by.
So I'll stop and see what part they shot on the street.
Current commercials that feature our street.

State Farm Insurance with the Falcon.
Parts of the J-Lo Fiat commercial
    And numerous car commercials.

If your familiar with the Micheal Jackson music video for Stranger in Moscow, that's our street as well.

We see our street show up in Movies too. Really takes me out of the film when I see my street trying to pass for Philadelphia, New York, or San Francisco. It's very odd when I walk out of my building and see either a fake NY subway station or a Bart station that wasn't there before. Or it's snowing in 80 degree weather in September.

    Only in downtown Los Angeles.

It's like they don't even try anymore (TV and movies). Anytime there is either the dark blue corner street sign or the overhead lighter blue street sign, I always try to figure out where they are.

    Forgot I had this.
This is picture of what our street looks like a lot of the time.
    Lights and production vehicles everywhere.

Cool! The only commercial shooting location I recognize regularly is PCH.

This ... the sound of people eating just makes me cringe. There are other versions of this that are worse than this one.

Another vote for the ASPCA commercials.

Any ad from J. G. Wentworth. "I have a structured settlement and I need cash now."
