Re: So You Think You Can Dance

Such a good show last night. Benji's sister was really wonderful, and overall I thought all of the dances were really enjoyable. I agreed with the judges about the one hip hop dance with the Russian gal, it just didn't work for me. This is really great entertainment though.

Re: So You Think You Can Dance

This year's top twenty looks pretty good all around. Big improvement group-wise over last year, but I really doubt that there is anyone there on Benji's level. That guy was just amazing all around.

I dug pretty much every routine, except for the modern/contemporary stuff. Mia bugs the bejesus out of me, and her choreography just looks like a bunch of wet noodles flopping and flinging around. Blech. I'd even take hip hop over her crap any day.

I'm looking forward to some swing, some spicy salsa and some good tango. I think the kids all had some serious first night nerves (but still put on a fantastic show) so I'm looking forward to seeing them hit their grooves and really tear things up.

On a side note, I have to share a funny little anecdote. We flipped over to watch a bit of “America’s Got Talent” and saw a dancer do a routine, and afterwards The Wife and I both went “Wikky wikky wow,” our best impression of the little snippet of music that ends the dances on this show. It just didn’t feel right watching a dance end without that little snippet!

    Spoiler
Ricky and Ashlee went home. I think her name is Ashlee, it's Ricky's partner. They both went home. How often has that happened in the past, both partners leaving?

Thanks Earkid. I don't know the names yet, so I had to go look them up. Too bad. I was kind of looking forward to seeing what that guy could do.

Since West Coast is over I think it's safe to share my feelings, but I'll keep names secret.

I'M SO ANGRY! How could they send him home over the 1st male dancer? He was so awesome!

With the girl I thought she deserved it after her solo...it wasn't that great.

the guy who went home...he sorta creeped me out for some reason...just somethign serial killerish about him...imho of course

the girl, her solo was so bland..nigel was right, when you're doing your solo you HAVE to give it everything you've got, and she didn't at all.

i looked up my fave dancers from wednesday on the SYTUCD website, it was Lacie and Kameron, that dance was fantabulous

I think Mia's choreography is fabulous, it's has a deeper meaning and it's purely emotionally charged dancing. Everything she does tells a story, I only wish you could feel/see what I do when I watch her chorepgraphy because then you would get what we are all talking about.

The girl's dancing was bland but I really liked her. I thought all of the guys were really good. I hated to see any of them go.

I agree with you. Dancers have to really show that emotion and even have that charismatic presence when you are dancing. It's like Mary said, you want to dance to make the audience's and Judges hair stand up on their arms.

Loved Benji's routine. I really miss him.
