Ah, nostalgia. It's interesting to view the TV shows remembered by various MiceChatters and realize that they reveal a little about our ages. Some of the shows remembered as daytime shows, I remember when they were prime time shows.
A few favorites:
My Little Margie
Burns & Allen
Truth Or Consequences
Beat The Clock
I Love Lucy
The local San Diego station that showed old movies.
A (hopefully) interesting bit of trivia:
The audience laugh tracks weren't very sophisticated in the 50's. I remember particularly in My Little Margie that whenever Margie was about to hatch up a sneaky plan, the "audience" would begin to giggle and twitter then, very distinctively a woman's voice could be heard saying, "Oh, yeah." (...as if answering a friend who had just whispered something like, "Oh my... this is going to be funny!") It became a game for me to watch that show and listen for this bit of pre-recorded track. I don't think I was ever disappointed. It was used in every single show. Occasionally, she also turned up in the audience of other shows too. Now I want to find an old episode just to hear my "Oh, yeah" lady one more time.
