Thumbs up Desperate Housewives Season Finale...

What did YOU think of the season finale of DH? I'm not sure if I like the idea of it flashing ahead 5 years. But I'll hold judgement of that plot line until next season and see what happens. I heard the flashing of 5 years ahead will not be for the entire season next year, so who knows what they're planning.

But over all, I thought the finale was really good. And yes, I teared up big time when Katherine was telling the real story of the loss of her real daughter that got killed. I'm such a sap...

I liked everything about the episode until the flash forward. It just didn't work for me. I like seeing the characters evolve and if I have to start next season with a quick blip of "the last 5 years went quickly on Wisteria Lane" I might just tune out.

The one that was the worst for me was Gabi - were those supposed to be her kids? The older one on the bed with all the makeup looked a lot older than 4 (or even closer to 5 in the event that she wasn't aware she was pregnant when she was having the knockdown with the drug dealer whose name escapes me and all I keep coming up with is Mallory Keaton!).

This was definitely the first finale that made me wonder if I wanted to watch a show any more when it came back.
I love my awesome crazy wonderful friends!!

I don't watch the show, but my 5 year old cousin was an extra on the Pizza Parlor set during last nights season finale. I guess he was playing a romanian orphan child or something. I even saw a picture of him on the set !

Same for me. The episode itself was great. I sapped over Katherine telling her story about her daughter and also the way Bree, Susan, Gabby & Lynette banded together to help Katherine in the end.

But the 5 years forward...yeah no way that child was young enough to be Gabby's! And Susan's portion too, left me with a WTH? Look.

I also am really concerned about the flash forward, and if I will like next season. I worry I will feel disconnected to the story line.

However, I will give it a shot.... It may work if there is a healthy mix of flashbacks with the current stories to bring us up to speed from where we left off. That way we may feel more invested in the new story lines and not like we are watching some odd spin off of a show we used to enjoy, but lost connection with.

Well, first, maybe we should tell Susan that her apparent love interest, used to star on ***** as Folk. I'm just sayin' . . . I would want to know.

I loved the show. I got all misty, too. Rick just rolls his eyes at me. I like the flash forward bit. They are all alive, and mostly have good lives. I cannot imagine that they would start next season five years forward, but right where they left off this season. If so, it will be fun to see how they get to where they were going. If I'm wrong, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. The show has had some low points in quality and holding my interest over the years, but they always rally and win me back.

    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    Re: Desperate Housewives Season Finale...

Guess I am in the minority. I LOVE the fact that they are flash forwarding!! I will admit I was getting a little bored with the story lines, and moving forward 5 years will spark it up a bit.

Gaby and her fat kids? The one did look a little old the the time frame. Hmmm... And boy, did she change! No make up and really ugly clothes. This will be interesting.

Lynette and Tom. Is anyone surprised that their kids turned out to be hoodlums?

Bree. Good start. He oldest son is now a good guy, she's still married to Orson, and she is a cookbook author.

Kathrine. Good to see she is still around.

Susan. I never realized how boring Mike was until I saw her kissing her new guy (the ***** as Folk guy). I love that actor! I can't figure out if he is gay in real life and can play an awesome straight guy, or he's straight in real life and played an amazing gay guy. Either way, he is adorable!

Anyone notice that Edie was no where in sight? Can't say I will miss her at all.

For me, it felt like they were trying to cover themselves in case something happened with an upcoming contract negotiation... Were the SAG contracts renewed?

I really liked the season finale. The flash forward was shocking and totally out of nowhere, but at the end of it all, I think I really like the idea. Hopefully Marc Cherry and team can make it work -- cause it will either end up being a stroke of genius, or it will send the show the way of Cavemen before the end of the season.
