Re: So who is buying into the Grand Californian next week?

I'm new to this DVC but have been following comments about the pre-sale of the Grand CA DLR and would like to get in on the ground floor so to speak of the new units.

Who should I contact about more info?

Me too. I can just use my existing Saratoga Springs points to stay at the GC when it opens.

I am seriously considering buying into the Grand Californian. It would be my first venture into the Disney Vacation Club.

Re: So who is buying into the Grand Californian next week?

For me, the problem with buying into GC as a first-time DVC buyer is that you have no "home" resort at WDW... Meaning that you don't have priority when booking a WDW stay.

It seems GC is practical mostly for those who already have a home resort at WDW, or for those who don't travel there often.

Re: So who is buying into the Grand Californian next week?

Honestly, I find myself at Disneyland every year, it's just far easier to travel to and much closer to home only a few hours drive. I'm definately considering the Villas at Disneyland as a possability. Anyone have a link to the layouts at the GCV?

Re: So who is buying into the Grand Californian next week?

I just got off the phone with my Disney Vacation Club representative. If all goes well, I will have 160 points, and be a first time Disney Vacation Club member. They are going to start processing my paperwork tomorrow.

Re: So who is buying into the Grand Californian next week?

Thank you DVC Mike! I am excited, and hope everything goes good on my end. She said it will take 3-4 weeks to get everything in order. I got 160 bonus points to use immediately, since the Villas wont open until the end of the year. My guide told me that I could book something on Friday and use the points. I'm thinking a trip to Disneyland, and a stay at the Disneyland Hotel would be a great way to start my DVC ownership. My wife and I are going to start planning a trip and bring one of her friends that hasn't been to Disneyland in at least 20 years. It will be fun. Does anyone know how many points it would take to stay at one Hotels at the Disneyland Resort?

Re: So who is buying into the Grand Californian next week?

As I sit here looking at the numbers of my points and thier cost, something doesn't seem right. When I do the math, I am paying roughly $25,000, when it says my total is a little over $15,000. Why is that?
