Question about GCH

So, anyone who has stayed at the GCH. How long in advance did you have to make reservations. I just tried for 3 1/2 months from now and am being told it's already booked. We just bought into the DVC and still have a week to back out. So, if there's never rooms available without planning way in advance I'd like to know. Does the wait list often pay off?

I've had no trouble booking so far, been w/ DVC since June 2009. GCH I've booked w/ less than 2months notice. DEFINITELY get on the wait list. It's panned out for me twice already.

We booked for the anniversary as soon aswe knew the dates and had no issue. End of Sept, I think?

I think because it is so small there might be more of an issue. Of course, you should always book as far in advanceas possible,and if it is GCH Villa you are buying into then you will be able to book sooner.

Are you trying to book it for a popular weekend?

Like All4 said, get on the waiting list. From what i have heard almost everyone gets in if they're on the list (in WDW at least). GCH Villas are the first place we're staying or have booked so I have no experience myself!

We're thinking of heading out that weekend too; but I guess we need to check the waiting list too.

I called and got a studio for April 30 and am on the wait list for May 1. Last time I try and book online. From now on I call in.

Online is great if book within the 11 to 7 month before you check-in date.
Note: are great Add you wait be put on the waitlist.

After that I call to book the room.
For VGCR I think call in Nov. and got a room for the anniversary.

Do you Know that you can also use you point at Disneyland Hotel and PPP.
Most of the time the Wait-list will come in for you.

One time at WDW I was on the wait and got room one month before check-in

DVC only have 49 rooms of studio to three bedroom.

I just booked a 2 bedroom at VGC for 12/4. There was at least one 1 bedroom available.

Looks like I got my second night. When I look at My Vacation I see a second night there. Although with a different reservation number and it shows as two separate stays with a checkout after each night, sigh. Of course I haven't received the email that you're supposed to get if your wait list turns into a reservation. Points for both nights have also been deducted from my point total.

This means your wait list worked! Congrats! You won't actually have to 'check out' after that first night. It's just the way DVC reservations work as I understand it. Keep both reservation confirmation numbers handy when you travel, but you shouldn't have any issues.

Just called for the same weekend, and now we're on the wait list too. Just Saturday and Sunday, we figured we'll stay at the Hojos Friday night to be there early the next morning.

I'm making a Hojos ressie tomorrow (along with the plane airfare too!) to have at least something close by just in case the wait list doesn't work out.

Just checked my account and we have a Studio May 1st and 2nd. The Wait List works out for us too!

We generally booked the GC hotel 5 months in advance.

We just booked the GCH Villa (2 bedroom) for the week of Aug 1. We booked that a week ago. When we booked it, the DVC person said that the 1 bedroom villas were fully booked for the 1st 2 weeks of August, but that there were a few (1 bedroom) still available in late June (our alternate date).
