Just got back from a way too quick weekend at Disneyland. My husband and I flew out from NY for micechat.com's 5th anniversary. I used to live in L.A. so we both have been to DL many times.
WE bought into Bay Lake Tower (BLT) last summer, but our first stay was at Grand Californian (GCV). We had a studio with a theme park view. It was AWESOME. Muholland Madness was RIGHT THERE and we were able to see them working on and testing the Silly Symphony Swings.
I loved how convenient it was (since I'd never really stayed at the hotel due to the expense). The walk to the park was so short, and it was nice meeting a friend for a quick breakfast at Whitewater. Interesting the changes since DVC moved in lol I also liked the walkway to the main lobby - big time saver.
Overall I really liked the room. It was a good enough size. The bed was soooo comfy, and the couch was too. I liked having so many places to sit. The balcony was nice too. The bathroom area outside was very roomy. The little kitchenette was functional. But strangely, the thing i liked the most was the deep dresser drawers lol And it still smelled new
My negatives are the same as with almost every hotel room: the toilet/tub area was really small, and the toilet didn't flush very well. Most of the time the tp would stick in the pot or it would shred and come back up. There was also no place to hang all the towels. It would be so easy to add another towel rack. Ditto with a space in the tub - that tiny shelf couldn't hold all of my and my husbands stuff. And the pillow was too fluffy. Lol There also wasn't a nightstand on both sides of the bed - I hate having to put my glasses and clock on the floor. IIRC BLT has one on both sides. Very nice.
Anyway... it was an enjoyable stay, and a great way to start our DVC journey. I can't wait until we can afford to buy into it. lol
