Wink How the Disney Vacation Club works for you.

A quick overview of "How the DVC timeshare plan works for you". Disney Vacation Club Point Charts and DVC Point Calculator available at http://ResalesDVC.com

Unlike traditional timeshares, you do not purchase a week at a time. Instead, you buy points which can be used to book rooms at any of the six (Animal Kingdom, Old Key West, Boardwalk Villas, Beach Club Villas, Wilderness Lodge Villas, Saratoga Springs) DVC resorts at Walt Disney World as well as the two outside (Vero Beach, Florida, and Hilton Head, South Carolina). In addition, you can use your points for other Disney hotels (at Disneyland as well) or for the Disney Cruise Line, or, if you prefer, exchange outside Disney via DVC's Concierge Collection or Interval International. New Hawaii DVC resort just announced.

The amount of points you need for your stay varies by the time of year and the resort you stay in. To view Also, unlike other timeshares, you do not have to pay an exchange fee if you book a different Disney resort. However, if you use the Interval International exchange program, you will have to pay an Interval International exchange fee.

If the use year for your ownership is Feb, this means that the next set of points becomes officially available at the beginning of Feb.

Disney allows you to bank and borrow your points. If you decide you do not want to use your points in the current year, you can bank them into the next year at which time you will have twice as many points to use. You do not have to bank all of them; you can bank as few or as many as you like. In addition, you can borrow points from the next year, which is the opposite of banking, and you can even do both into the same year. For example, if you're planning a family reunion and need to book several rooms, you can bank last year's points, borrow next year's and have 3 times the normal amount this year.

The rooms at the DVC resorts are better equipped than the other Disney resorts and all rooms, one bedroom and larger, include a fully equipped kitchen plus washer/dryer and Jacuzzi. All Disney timeshare ownerships expire in 2042 except Saratoga Springs which expires in 2054 and Animal Kingdom which is 2057.

Re: How the Disney Vacation Club works for you.

here is what I was mentioning from the news

"Consistent Transaction Fee for Member Getaways Exchanges
In order to maintain consistent service and to ensure efficient processing, transaction fees at non-Disney Vacation Club Resort locations will be standardized to $95. Starting January 1, 2008, Member Getaways exchanges in The Disney Collection, Concierge Collection, Adventurer Collection and World Passport Collection will charge a non-refundable $95 fee for booking or changing reservations. Reservations at the eight Disney Vacation Club Resorts and the three resort hotels at DisneylandŪ Resort in California will not require a transaction fee. If you have any questions, please e-mail or call Member Services at 1-800-800- "

you are correct though DL is NOT included.

sad - WDW is included - but DL is not.

Re: How the Disney Vacation Club works for you.

Disney is in the process of expanding their other programs. Their goal is the be very user friendly for vacations taken outside of the DVC resorts. Should be exciting!

The point usage for these properties varies from around 25 per night up to 98 per night. All depends on the size unit and time of year. Disney will handle all reservations, once you are a DVC owner, through your assigned Disney Vacation representative.
The Grove Park Inn Resort &Spa (Asheville, NC)
Hotel Del Coronado (Coronado, CA)
Loews Regency Hotel (NY, NY)
The Fairmont San Francisco (SF, CA)
Grand Wailea Resort (Maui, HI)
Keystone Resort (Keystone, CO)
Mandarin Oriental (Washington, DC)
Resort at Squaw Creek (Lake Tahoe, CA)
Royal Garden Hotel (London, England)
The Sagamore (Lake George, NY)
Topnotch Resort and Spa (Stowe, VT)
The Whitehall Hotel (Chicago, IL)
Your ownership will include a membership with Interval International which has over 2,500 resorts in their exchange program. Approx. 160 to 270 points required, depending on size of unit, for a one week traditional timeshare stay.
