Cheesy Swiss Corporate Officer Fined For Euro Disney Hoax

According to the Wall Street Journal, Ulf Wernerf of Centertainment (a Swiss Company) has been fined around $1.33 million. The fine is being levied by the French stock-market regulator over a scam in 2006 when Wernerf falsely claimed that his company was offering to buy-out Euro Disney ..and then he disappeared. The hoax served to unethically manipulate the tock prices of both Centertainment and Euro Disney.

Serves them right, shouldn't try and fraud the Stock Exchange, it will always come back and bite you.

Damn right. A lot of hard working innocent people were hurt by this scam.

I think I remember this... Didn't a ripple of shock spread through the "online community" when this happened?

It also doesn't seem improbable at all. Theme parks (particularly in Europe) change owners faster than their patrons change underwear, and given Euro Disney's financial situation... Thankfully the Walt Disney Co. still has the upper hand.
