Earl of Sandwich approved for Disney Village.

Chessy town council has stamped and approved the plans for an Earl of Sandwich counter service restaurant in Disney Village. Yes, the rumours were true and all the plans and concepts are out…!

    Yey for Disney Village!
(when I was there a few years ago I really didn't like the back of the Rainforest Restaurant, as seen from McDonnalds ect, so I'm glad they're trying to cover it up a bit more^^)

Possibly my favorite place to eat at WDW...good food that, unlike almost everything else at WDW, is reasonably priced. Should be a good addition for DLRP.

Agreed Disneyland Paris has been lacking a decent sandwich shop for a few years now. What I like about the location is if your leaving the park around closing you can pop in on the walk back to the hotel and pick up a takeaway.

But I have to wonder with this annoucement, what will happen to New York Style Sandwiches, who will clearly be hit by the opening of the Earl of Sandwich. Are the Resort looking into closing the former down, to make way for something more exciting perhaps. I doubt people are going to continue buying paninis from them anyway, unless they improve on the quality.

I work at Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas and we have an Earl of Sandwich. While they make decent food (compared to other eateries), they are NOT inexpensive...at least not for working-class folk.

I find myself only eating there if I have forgotten a meal or don't have enough time to go somewhere 'good'.

I dunno what the prices are at your branch, but at WDW it is just about the most reasonably priced eatery aside from McDonalds locations within boundaries of the resort. Working class or not...if someone can afford a Disney vacation...then they can afford Earl of Sandwich. As far my own experiences go...for a regular sandwich shop...their food quality is excellent. I do have an EOS near where I live...but have never gone there...but the reason is because this one is located in an unattractive corner of a shopping mall that I have no particular need to go to.

    It doesn't look too bad.
The sandwiches, as far as I can see on the official website, look delicious! I hope they're as good as they look

The Earl of Sandwich could face a problem if prices are to high. Guest spending at the Resort is a key factor in its failure to turn a profit. Disney has tried to prevent this by offering dining plans, but Guest will shop around for meals. Mcdonalds is a quick and inexpensive meal, and all the hotels offer buffets that are good vaule for money. Occasionally Guest will spend big but only once or twice during the trip and these are usually spent at your Planet Hollywood type Restaurants. Earl of Sandwch will need to keep its prices fair if it wishes to attract the budget traveller that Disneyland Paris caters more towards now days.

Earl Of Sandwich will have huge competitors in Disney Village such as Mc Donald's , New York Deli's Sandwich and Starbucks Coffee .

Subway had target Disney or Val D'europe but Val D'europe is still Disney and Disney said NO to Subway . Subway opened in Paris less than 4 years ago and it's a HUGE success .

I tought that a Subway would perfectly fit into Disney Village but WDC already had a contract with Earl's Of Sandwich .

Yet another good reason to take pictures for updates . Disney will also announce World Of Disney near Gaumont Cinema . It is nice that DLP management finally decided to take care about Disney Village .

The EOS is probably the best eatery at Downtown Disney WDW, in my opinion anyway. I can't wait for it to open at DLRP, a sandwich for breakfast, buy one more and have it cold for lunch and get one on the way back to the hotel in the evening, heaven!!!!

Re: Earl of Sandwich approved for Disney Village.

I love Earl of Sandwich. I'm partial to their All-American sandwich, which is basically Thanksgiving dinner (turkey, mixed greens, buttermilk ranch dressing, cranberries & tomato... I get it without tomato). NOMNOMNOM! The Hawaiian BBQ (ham, chicken & pineapple w/ sweet BBQ sauce) is pretty good too, but I liked it better when it was just ham... it's kind of weird with chicken on it too (sometime I should try ordering it without the chicken). And they have really good salads too. Luckily I don't have to drive all the way to Orlando whenever I get a craving as there's one just across the bay in Tampa.

I'm guessing this shop in Winchester isn't a relative of the chain?
