I hope it's good news.. DLP is in dire need of improvement. I go every year as it's the closest to me and year on year its getting worse with last year being astronomically terrible. Most rides closed at busy times, disappointed children at lack of characters, restaurants shut all over the place.. makes me wonder whats going on? Major major issues need addressing.

I really hope this will be a positive step, but I don't want to get my hopes up. He may very well just get asked about the petition, probably acknowledge it and maybe say that they are looking into it. And then promptly promote Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Naturally though we all want to him to announce some sort of investment, even if its something small, it will be a step in the right direction.

    Not long now... stay tuned!

I do not expect him to say much. Technically speaking, even though it is controlled by The Walt Disney Company, Euro Disney SCA is a separate company of which they are only a minority shareholder.

Hmmmm... I'm not really up to speed on this whole issue, but if Disney is a minor shareholder, is it possible they are announcing a pullout from the park? Could they be considering issuing EuroDisney SCA licensing rights and reserving rights to veto any directly Disney-related changes they don't like, but removing their (minor) direct involvement completely? Not trying to start a rumor or saying I have any information about such a thing happening... just curious to hear from those who may know if this is a possibility.

^I'm not entirely sure, I guess they could but it'd be a bizarre situation. Plus it'd probably do more harm than good, and after all it is their name at sake.

In fact they'd be better served if they increased their holding in the company and implemented radical changes.

Actually there was a rumour not so long ago that they were considering buying EuroDisney, which didn't come to pass, somehow I doubt they'd be announcing anything as big, but then again no one saw Marvel or LucasFilm coming either.

I think Disney should give 1 billion $ to improve Disneyland Paris. It's Disney's responsibility even if Euro Disney is not completely their property. For the guests, Disneyland Paris = Euro Disney = Disney = The Walt Disney Company.

^True enough, people do not differentiate between the companies, they are the one and the same.

$1bn would be nice, but its only c. €740m which doesn't sound a great deal, but then again it would get a fair bit accomplished.

An SCA is a weird and rather unique organizational structure that give operational control to a minor party. The reason this structure was chosen is because it allowed the French government and Disney to both have their way by limiting foreign ownership while maintaining Disney's control. Disney has always had a minority interest in Euro Disney SCA by design. Because Euro Disney SCA therefore is a separate company it has to be treated as such when it comes to finances. They have their own debt which was recently purchased by The Walt Disney Company, but it is still debt owed to the Company by another entity. It's not Disney's responsibility even if people are unaware of the differences because the Company would be in huge trouble for giving billions to another entity (it would have to be billions to forgive the debt as well as infuse the Resort with new capital).

When the word was going out that Disney was halting investment in the property my immediate assumption was that this was a ploy by The Walt Disney Company to pressure the socialist government into allowing The Walt Disney Company to break their agreement and buy out Euro Disney SCA. Given the economic climate in France and Europe, there is no money for the government to get involved and alleviate the situation, but by swallowing some pride The Walt Disney Company can easily come in and save the day. Wholly owning Euro Disney SCA would enable Disneyland Paris to finally rid itself of the debt problem as it would become a purely internal matter.

^Thanks for the explanation. I know its a fanboy thing to say, but I do hope they buy ED and are able to really sort out the resort.

By my reckoning, its 17:00 BST which makes it 12:00 Eastern, so any time now we should hear something. Anyone Stateside watching?
