New DLP opening hours for May 2006

dlp- guide are talking of testing a system to extend opening hours if crowds appear
31000 - longer hours. - if not 6pm close

im now going on the 23rd, 6pm close, train is at 6:24 though. so i dont do my usual dash while jumping over the satanic robotic kittens

Good news for those who are going to DLP between 25th and 27th of May: FIREWORKS!

No news yet what kind of show it is, but it is nice surprise anyway!

Yikes, some of those hours are a little short but I guess if people aren't coming, why bother keeping the park open and waste more money? I do believe that park hours should probably never be shorter than 10am to 8pm hours.

the test is called "DEMAND BASED OPERATING HOURS" it depends how many thousands of guests they forecasted and than they calculated the opening hours - apparently it is said that if there are more than 31000 people expected that they keep the park open until 22h00 or 23h00.

I know that California is very flexible with par opening hours and they want to try the same - stay open longer on week-ends and close early during the week. plus the new regional passports are cheaper for the during the week season and more xpensive on a week-end.

Yes apparently the French don't get the concept that staying in a Disney hotel gets you special benefits.

23=11pm.
22=10pm.
18=6PM!?!?!?!?!


6pm closing?

I am not sure why a 6pm closing is so surprising to some here. I actually am surprised to see the park opened past 8pm on some "non crowded" days. For anyone who has been visiting DLP regularly over the past 14 years... you woul know the park begins to look rather empty after 5pm on some of those days... Only summer and holidays do you see enough people to merit opening DLP pass 6 or 8pm.

It's just not the French, but the rest of Europe as well... But trust me, they DO understand the concept of a cheaper vacation to WDW from Europe than to go to DLP. You see... with the dollar being so weak against the Euro, it's actually more affordable for some folks to go to WDW for a week than to visit DLP for a few days. Same for the British and their Pounds denominations... reason why so many British tourists bypass France and head to FL.

peajay, that was the scheme, i didnt realise they were continuing it, i hadnt heard a thing since its initial run, and i go in dead season normally.

from what was mentioned on the dlp guide, it wasnt the perks per se, but leaving the park open and just closing rides to everyone but hotel guests, after hours is cool. but personally if they did that during normal park hours (and i wouldnt put it past them to do it) i would be pissed.

Damn, it will close at 8 when I'm there. I won't be able to survive being so used to my beloved 12:00 Disneyland California closing time
