Re: Big Thunder Mountain is about to close for 3 Months !

Back in the 90's, some imagineer gave an interview in regards to the opening of the Indy coaster. He did mention that room was specifically left available next to the ride for an Anaheim-style Indy Adventure ride. So they did at least consider it...

And about the Indiana Jones Adventure/Splash Mountain comment; I wonder if either of these have ever been on the Parisian "maybe" pile at all?
Plans for the french version of Splash Mountain were drawn up back in 1998/99, and it was going to go ahead, unitl they were told they needed the funds for the second park instead. (Talk about getting your money's worth.) As for the Indiana Jones Adventure, that's been on the maybe pile for donkey's years. If you wander about behind Temple of Peril, you'll actually find marker pegs they put out to set the outer limits of the new ride.

If I had to choose between one or the other (which will probably be the case, as the Disneyland Park is only scheduled to get one new E-ticket in the next ten years, last I heard), I'd vote for Indy. It's indoors, so you can ride it all year round, it would be unique in Europe, and most of all, it rocks!

It's hard to believe they have actually considered either since all those extravagant ambitions were abruptly killed off in the Great Financial Disaster of 1992. Since then, every addition has been one of those easy-to-market thrill rides or popular character driven ones.

I mean, I can see that 1992 team that wanted to create Lava Lagoon and that Beauty and the Beast ride fiddling around with ideas for an Indy in Paris, going "ah, let's throw in a wall made of diamonds!" whilst lighting up cigars with dollar bills... But after that? And worse, nowadays? I'm not even sure there'd be an Indy at Disneyland if it hadn't already opened in 1995, let alone our poor French park which will forever suffer from a blood-draining parasitic siamese twin called Walt Disney Studios. Times have changed...

Ah, always the optimist aren't I.

If it wasn't a disaster, but rather a roaring succuess, so many things would have come and they would have come fast. Not in just relation to expanding Disneyland Resort Paris, but the entire Disney theme park empire.

"Plussing" to Disneyland Paris, a good thing! Thanks for the good news Louis.

Big Thunder at DLP is amazing. It's my favorite Big Thunder. I love the way the mountain is its own island. The end drop is very cool.

You're forgetting Space Mountain - far from a cheap thrill ride!
Actually, once Space had been up and running for a few years, the park was making enough money back to consider adding another E-ticket. The EuroDisney group was still in debt, but the financial situation was steadily improving. That's when the Imagineers put pen to paper for Spash Mountain and Indy Adventure.

As for the problem of having two Indy rides next door to each other - that had been the plan from the very start. When finished, it would have looked as though the two rides were set amidst the ruins of one enormous temple. Tokyo Disney Sea has done very nearly the same thing with their own Indy Adventure and Raging Spirits.

Do they have the space though? Indiana Jones takes up a huge amount of land, and that's not including the queue.

the big problems would be the lake outside the park and the RR sidings and sheds behind the temple,

indeed, it seems there is no free spot to build it outside the park

and although I would like to see the indy adventure in DLP, it would be sad to use all the land in adventureland for that attraction
