Studio Tram Tour in Backlot?

I just saw something intriguing (for me at least). It may well have been like this the whole time but this Studio Tram Tour photo http://www.photosmagiques.com/galler...ne_07/DSC03686 says that the tour is located in Backlot. Is this a recent development or a fault with the poster that's been there for years? It'll certainly be cut off from prod. courtyard when Hollywood Blvd. arrives. Hmm

Hang on....your right, the Tram Tour used to be in Production Courtyard. Hmmm...interesting.

Not to fear - the poster has advertised the Tram Tour as belonging in the Backlot ever since the park opened in 2002. This is because, when the park was built, it was decided that this was where the tour rightfully belonged (just as in FLorida). However, after the first soft opening, the Imagineers decided that the Production Courtyard did not have enough attractions. Animation Courtyard had three, Backlot had four, but the Production Courtyard had only two (Cinemagique and Disney Channel). So, to solve the problem, they simply "moved" the Tram Tour from one area of the park to the other, by renaming it on the park maps. It was already too late to alter the poster at the park's entrance, so it had remained in place to this day.

Aww, just what I feared. I thought I read that somewhere but couldn't remember. Well at least the poster's ready for the joyous day when Tram Tour is made a Backlot attraction lol

Rumor is the Tram Tour at WDW will be closing in the next couple of years to make space for some new additions to the park...

Hmmmm...it does take up an awful lot of space I guess but MGM never struck me as a particualrly small, tight-for-space park. I think the tram thing's a great concept when it's done really well

I wasn't implying that lol. Reign of Fire's alright and the narration also it's just the stuff it's describing is utter rubbish

Surely its due for a change? I would have thought that Disney could have spared a little bit of stuff from the POTC movies to replace Dinotopia (seen it? maybe. Remember it? hardly!).
The Reign of Fire has a built-in disappointment (what no actual dragon?) and again suffers from being an 'old' film that few remember.
For this to work it either needs to be constantly updated or 'timeless'.
It has no repeat appeal

The videos are good talking about how movies are made and everything but the physical sights don't support it I think. Pirates would be good, or Narnia.

Last time I was on it they had some Narnia costumes in the windows. Went past far too quickly. I suspect that that is one of the few areas where they do regularly update so as to plug the latest movies.

More preferable would be a version of The Great Movie Ride - fantastic and timeless.

Hmm, I think Cinemagique provides a good alternative to the great movie ride though. I don't think dark rides tend to work at movie studio parks very well unless fantasy-esque such as Crush. And I meant Narnia sets btw. The sets on a tram tour have to be really good to work at all I think; not everything can be an effects sequence. btw a dragon AA could be added to reign of fire easily
