Space Mountain or Rock 'n' Roller Coaster?

Which do you prefer? I'm a space man myself. Yes, Rock is smoother, yes, Rock is more fine-tuned but I think the sense of adventure and exploration in Space is brilliant and the whole ride experience just feels more lush and well, more of a story than just a ride through a rock concert. Don't get me wrong, I love them both enormousley. I'll be interested to see what y'all think. Post yer reasons below if ye wish

Space Mountain by far. RnRc is just a cheap clone. Their Space Mountain is origional with the whole "From The Earth To the The Moon" Jules Vern Theme. And its more thrilling.

If SM still had the theme of "From the Earth to the Moon" I would pick that as better...but it doesn't so the advantage goes to RnRC.
Disney and Universal fan for life!...Shocking ain't it?
Seize the future with X-S! Not Stitch.
I'm not crazy, now if you will excuse me I have tea time with the ghosts at Haunted Mansion.

Well, even if I loved better SM From the earth to the moon theme, I still voted for SM.

Rock isn't actually a clone, the track and music are the same but the inside/boarding station is totally different

My vote for RnRc. It is fun to observe the look of others when they first time see the launch! I used to like Space Mountain, but now they've messed up with it and your head gets shaken AND stirred badly.. I hardly visit it any more.

I'll leave you all to guess which one I voted for.
If Space Mountain were still in its original guise, I would probably have plumped for that one. The atmosphere of the original ride took a lot of beating, and although I love many of the effects in Mission 2, the ride as a whole just doesn't do it for me any more. (It's probably down to the music).

I know Rock inside out, and even though most of the on-ride show was a mess when I rode it last week, it will always have a special place in my affections.

If it was the original version of SM and still smooth, there would be no question. But sadly they took the heart out of the attraction, ruined the music and RNRC is much smoother, so RNRC wins. There was a time when I loved both equally.
Let's put the Walt back in Disney!

I just think Space is a more interesting ride as well, but bear in mind my only experience of SM has been either in the front row or very close (for me the front row is the only place to ride it). The roughness doesn't bother me at all, in fact I like it as it contrasts with R'n'RC

Re: Space Mountain or Rock 'n' Roller Coaster?

The thing is, since it became Mission 2, Space Mountain is basically just another Rock 'n' Roller Coaster: a rollercoaster ride in the dark past some flashing lights. So the two become easily comparable and, well, Space Mountain: Mission 2 doesn't really have much going for it. RNRC's got a faster launch, it's smoother and doesn't suffer from pacing problems like Space does. Having said that, Space Mountain does have a better ride building, but one can't help but feel that it's cheating and stole it from a superior ride.
Hey, it's been over two years and it turns out I'm still bitter about Space Mountain.

I think if anything R'n'RC has more pacing problems as it really loses momentum towards the end whereas space mountain is pretty much non stop apart from the supernova lift. And also it's not flashing lights in SM it's prjections and props! Sorry, I'm just getting waaay too defensive of my view here
