Thumbs up Lava Lagoon, Frontierland, and perhaps more...

    Hi there

Just a quick note to let you know my site has been updated with LOADS of Frontierland pictures, as well as an interesting article written by my pal Grandmath on Lava Lagoon, the former Water Park that was planned for the Euro Disney Resort (back in 92, of course).

Everything is written in French but i thought some of you could be interested.

    Enjoy !

Thanks! Lava Lagoon still is my favorite never-built EDL project. Especially for winter season it'd be the attraction.

i've seen the artwork infront of me several times but the project was cancelled due to some budget cuts but it's still possible to built a Half Indoor Half Outdoor Water Park .

in Europe Water Parks have to be half and half because of the rain and winter season .

That's exactly what was proposed for that park : an enclosed section developped around some kind of volcano (think a half size TDS' Mount Prometheus) and, open during the nice days, a more relax section outiside with a "beach" on the shores of Lake Disney (the lake was supposed to eventually expand up to the gates of the third park), thus flowing in front of Lava Lagoon.

For what it's worth, a member on the French forum Disney Central Plaza appearantly has the information that the plans for Lava Lagoon are on the table again since 2006. The project is independent from the Nature Villages project, and will arrive before a third gate sees the day.

It this was true, I for one would be VERY happy .

yes but that Village Nature project is not from Disney but another Company .

Disney just allow them to use their property to built their '' Resorts '' .

Interesting news, and not completely unbelievable, either. When I joined the resort in 2002, every manager and team leader I met was raving about the plans for the "tropical indoor water park with the volcano" which was, at that time, being touted for a 2012 opening. Of course, the whole thing was dependant on the success of the WDS and the construction of further hotels, and within only a few months the plans had been put back in stasis. But they were definitely alive and well five years ago.

Who knows? Perhaps with the success of the 15th Anniversary, ToT, etc., the ball may finally start rolling again. Fingers crossed.

Appearantly the big issue with the water park right now (besides from the fact if there's money to build it or not) is the giant glass dome that's supposed to cover the indoor part with the volcano. I hope they get it figured out, image the incredible sight of this immense glass bubble with an erupting volcano inside, talk about your landmark!

Why is that an issue? Just wondering :S Alton Towers did the glass dome thing with their water park and I think it worked really well (felt really tropical inside). Now if Disney did something in the same vein it's wonderful to think how much better it would be...that is if they do it properly

What an interesting article. I'd only seen a few fuzzy concept arts before.

If this was really supposed to have cost as much as your average E-ticket, it actually seems viable. If Euro Disney are at all interested in expanding the resort, that is, as opposed to the parks.

I think a water park would be a great compliment to the resort and would indeed make it more rounded
