    Hallal food and Disney

Here's a question for you all: is it possible to find Hallal food at DLRP? I have a Muslim friend who will be visiting the resort for the first time next month, and she's a little anxious about it. (She'll be taking two very young children with her, so she's got her hands full already!)

I know that Disney can provide Kosher meals, but I can't find any info on Hallal stuff. Does anyone know anything? All answers, gratefully received!

Don't know whether Hallal food is available at DLP but there were certainly a lot of Muslims there last week so I would assume so.

Thanks, but I e-mailed them a few days ago, and they replied saying that they'd never heard of anyone trying to get Hallal food at the resort before! I may have to get in touch with Disney directly.

Pretty much somewhat... a lot of it is the same or similar dietary guidelines, like no pork and no bloody meat. Overall, Hallal is not as restrictive as the kosher laws.

If your friend is fine with it, the Kosher menu will be a good substitute as it is very similar standards in many ways.

Check out this article if you're interested in what to look for to determine if the kosher product is equal to the hallal equivalent: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...al_and_kashrut

A lot of this depends on how strict your friend is, too. My brother-in-law is muslim and he abstains from alcohol and refuses to eat pork or bloody meat, but rarely is picky about other foods. But he's also not the strictest of muslim. Ask your friend for more information to find out whether it's allowable in her personal beliefs to just be careful of how it's cooked and what meat it is, if kosher can be a substitute, or if the family will need to be stricter. If it is stricter, you may need to call the resort ahead of time and ask. Not every muslim follows the guides the same way, so we're probably not going to be able to completely answer your question.

Again it depends how strict your friend is in interpreting laws. By strictest definition of halal, I would bet none of the meat in Disneyland is halal, since it has to do with how the animal is killed etc. These details are not important to many Muslims - most just avoid pork and alcohol. Of course, things like vegetables and fish are halal and don't have any complicating factors, so no need for anyone to go hungry even if they go by stricter guidelines for land animals.

    Re: Hallal food and Disney

Thanks, everyone for your replies. My friend gets back from Disney today, so I should find out this week how she got on. In the meantime, here's the official response that I've just this second received from DLRP:

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting Disneyland Resort Paris.

Hallal food is not available at any restaurant. Upon arrival at your
hotel you can meet with a chef to see if special arrangements can be
    made for your stay.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
    us.

    Thank you!

That is rather remiss of Disney not to consider Hallal food. I suspect that this poor state of affairs will be rectified in short order.

How? Obviously they don't feel they need to.

The reopening of the restaurant in Agrahbah may be the answer.
