    Dlrp Monorail?

According to rumours (Soundtracker) there is going to be a Monorail Station at the improved Disney Village. That means that there might be Monorails soarin' over Disneyland Resort Paris. What do you think: improvement or not?

    Re: Dlrp Monorail

Monorails tend to be very expensive and it looks quite an odd expansion to a resort where almost everything was planned from day one so it can be reached by foot. I would definetely prefer to have the same aount of money needed for the monorail to be spent on attractions.

I totally agree. The resort is packed together, and it would only come in handy to connect the hotels - and why would you want to connect the hotels? No, give me an E-ticket - AN ORIGINAL E-TICKET - anyday.

I don't think they need a Monorail system in DLP.

I think a monorail would be a good way to help guests travel to and from the main entrance plaza to further areas of the resort, such as the golf course.
However, does Euro Disney have the money to operate a monorail system ?

Who is paying? Monorails cost big $$$ and honestly DLP has more important things to be paying for.

^^^Exactly ... just another common sense reason why it will never happen.

But if you want to ride a real monorail system just head out to Las Vegas. A real treat to ride up and down behind the Strip at night with all those lights glowing!

The money could come from other sources. If ever DLP gets the Exhibition Center, monorail could serve it between RER station and Exibition Centre. Of course the other end could be at Val d'Europe shopping village where DLP provides a shuttle taxi from hotels at the moment.

So DLP pays 25%, Val d'Europe Shopping Village 25%, Exhibiton Centre 25% and prehaps the rest 25% would come from goverment or county?

    Re: Dlrp Monorail

Hmmm, looks like I've stirred up quite a debate here. Actually, Zarniwoop has hit the nail quite squarely on the head - if the proposed monorail line was ever to be built, it would not be funded soley by Disney but by a number of other businesses, including Val d'Europe.
As for the line, it would run from Centre Court (the plaza where the two parks, the Disney Village and the rail and bus stations are located) as far out as Camp Davey Crocket and the new Nature Village development. That's quite a long way, as those of you who have ever tried to drive it will know. Currently, there is no Disney transportation between Davey Crocket and the parks.
Along the way, it would stop at the new convention centre (more info on this in the Disney Village thread soon), Val d'Europe, and a new business centre on the fringe of the Disney property that's currently in the planning stages.
Personally, I think it would be great if it ever happens, but as so many of you have pointed out, monorails are expensive beasts. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see this project shelved the moment budgets begin to be cut.
    Still, here's hoping, eh?

    Re: Dlrp Monorail

If Disney only has to finance a certain percentage of the Monorail, I can surely see a future for it! Also nice for the Davey Crocket guests that they can stop 'adventuring' for a while (you know, Davey Crocket being an adventurous place) and just sit back and relax while on the way to the parks. And it'll be nice not having to travel all the way to Vegas ..

No way, we don't need one and the huge amounts of money it would cost could be spent on much more needed things, like fixing WDS.

If the planned Village expansion/rehab takes place, then after that's complete I can see a Monorail connecting Golf, Val de Europe, Soccer School, Davy Crockett etc - but keep it out of the parks - no need for it!

Not to worry, PeaJay. As I understand it, the proposed monorail line, if ever constructed, would only extend as far as the Centre Court area, so it shouldn't be visible from within the parks. And frankly, it wouldn't make sense (either practically or financially) to start construction until well after the expansion projects for Disney Village and Val d'Europe are complete.
