We have just returned from Paris and were fortunate enough to be present for the small ceremony Saturday morning marking the official opening of the Tower of Terror attraction.
Entering Studio 1 at about 9:30 it took a second to realize that the music and images swirling around on the walls were from the Twighlight Zone. It was fairly subdued but noticing it before heading into the park set the mood nicely. We had not been able to ride yet as the ride had been closed for a special event when we were there on Thursday. We were not aware that there would be any fanfare that morning just happened to show up just as the ceremony was starting. Sadly I do not speak french so I do not know everything that was said.
The Disney Ambassadors were introduced and each gave a short speech:
As each person was introduced they rode in on a horseless carriage. Here is the Director of the Resort. Following the opening ceremony he changed into more casual attire and was seen around the ride making sure everything was running smoothly.
An old fashioned phone then rang to inform us that the ride was ready to open:
The resort Director (Sorry, I missed his name) declared the Tower of Terror officially open to a flurry of confetti.
The crowd then quickly swarmed over the red carpet that had been set up. The cast members attempted to maintain some order but it ended up one big crowd until everyone worked their way into the queues. Once the initial rush was over the wait was 30-45 minutes for the rest of the day.
I should have gotten a few more photos of the area that had been inside the construction walls until that morning. Here are the external photos I did take:
Of course we had to keep our fastpasses from opening day:
