The 15th - It's time to end it.

Simple thread. Do you think the 15th has gone on too long, way too long, not long enough? Discuss. Oh, and for me, it has gone on WAY WAY WAY too long and is going to continue doing so.

Re: The 15th - It's time to end it.

Yes, enough is enough. It's been a good run, definitely one of the better anniversary celebrations, and it has done a wonderful job of increasing attendance... But there's no point in extending one anniversary to the next. It's like those Christmas departments in department stores that close in February and open again in July.

And I wouldn't be surprised if the 15th morphs into that Mickey Mouse anniversary. As someone said a few years ago, "why does there always need to be a hat on the gazebo"? Granted, the gazebo hat vogue is mercifully behind us, but Main Street is seldom celebration-free.

Re: The 15th - It's time to end it.

As far as I'm aware, the 15th Anniversary celebrations are due to end with the close of the summer season, which seems reasonable enough to be. Granted, they should really have ended back in March/April, but the re-invention as a general party (The Celebration Continues... Big Time! etc.) has been enough to keep the momentum going.

Of course, if it carries on til Christmas, I will NOT be happy!

Re: The 15th - It's time to end it.

I was under the impression it was ending about a quarter of the way through next year.

Re: The 15th - It's time to end it.

The celebration continues until the end of March next year according to a poster I saw in the Disney store recently.
How much would it have cost to slightly change to advertising and basic content of the celebration to make it something entirely different? In Mickey's 80th year no less! They have seriously missed a trick there (but seem to have saved plenty of money using all of that old rope)

At least it hasn't/isn't running as long as the damn Year of a Million Dreams!

Re: The 15th - It's time to end it.

At least it's a bit more justified than the year of a million dreams. Still, they'd probably be better off doing some other celebration that's more relevant and doesn't involve me having to see the same decorations on a trip a year later.

Although YOMD was an obvious marketing gimmick, it was also an interesting and pretty unique concept. Yes it went on too long but that makes more sense than continuing to celebrate a 15th anniversary up to the park's 17th year. It rather smacks of Jack Benny eternally being aged 39.

Well true. The 15th is more justified, but it's not quite as bad as YOMD. Well, both are pretty bad.

Well as long as they don't hang a large blue plate on the castle with a golden 15 in the middle I'll be alright.... Oh.
