WDS - A New Map

This is not an incredibly pressing DLRP issue, but does anyone think that WDS' map is, well, pretty bad? The front lot and three soundstages work well, but then it just looks awful, I think namely because in stead of doing a re-raw to incorporate Toon Studio and Hollywood Blvd. they have been just stuck on, hence the tower looks pretty small and the whole thing just looks a bit daft. maybe they're waiting 'til more changes are made before they do a re-draw, but then I don't know how much of a big deal a new map would be. Surely they should get ride of the horribly coloured pathways that work in the complex, thin and winding paths of Disneyland Park but look huge and ugly for WDS. The park's lack of quality structure seems to be even worse on the current map too, it looks more of a mess than the real thing! Ok, this is no serious problem, but, does anyone else agree that the map is not exactly superb?

Re: WDS - A New Map

I just noticed also that the old studio tram tour sign is for some reason, still there, but I guess no one cares about this thread, huh...

Re: WDS - A New Map

Yeah, I never really liked the map for WDS, the buildings dont really 'phase' into the ground. Also, its got that whole "is it supposed to look like the mickey mouse head or isn't it because to me it just looks like a deformed rat face" thing going on. I believe that was my actual quote when I saw it.

Now, my french goes about as far as 'Je suis un jambon' and 'Je vais manger tout le monde', but I get really annoyed when I pick the wrong map up, I've always thought they should have a flag on the map. But then again, don't listen to me, I just wanted to put 'Je suis un jambon' in a thread on Micechat.

BTW, if anyone is alergic to quote marks, its best not to read my posts.

I'm, I say I'm pretty sure that a flag appears on the top right corner of the front cover of the DLP pamphlets... maps that is.

(I hope every gets my Phoggy reference!)

Re: WDS - A New Map

I think the thing is, that the WDS map isn't the same style as DLP's map. It seems more cartoony, granted the park is a lot smaller so theres less detail, but I still would like to see a better map. (@ Lt. Detroit - Which map have you got? I have the one with both parks on, I think I got it from the Dream Castle Hotel)

Sadly it's been a year since I was there last and so things may have changes. Oh woe is me!

Nathan, surely you think the map is awful? I mean, the TV tour building looks bigger than ToT, it's ridiculous!

Re: WDS - A New Map

They obviously tried to divert attention from the general awfulness of the park by stylizing the heck out of it and putting big logos and searchlights on everything. They did a similar thing with the Disney's California Adventure map in several of its incarnations, although it was never as geographically inaccurate.

Then the Tower of Terror came along, which when seen from an aerial photograph, seems like this odd, thematically specific behemoth in the middle of a small scattering of nondescript sound stages. So I'm guessing that in order not to let it upstage everything else in the park to a ridiculous extent, they scaled it.

So is it bad? Yes, but that's because the park is. A more accurate map would probably look bizarre.

Re: WDS - A New Map

But you can look at the map on the internet...*sobs*...

I'm all for inaccurate maps, just not bad ones with clumsy shoehorning of new stuff in there.
