DLRP extensions in danger?

What do you think how current bank crisis will affect DLRP expansion plans? I think they'll be postponed for few years. Also when banks start to panic, that can't be a good news to heavy debt EDL either. Hopefully TWDC has a lot of cash. EDL stock has sunk some 15% this week.

Re: DLRP extensions in danger?

Honestly? The Lehman Brothers thing could have that much effect on a company on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean?

Re: DLRP extensions in danger?

This is global crisis now and is shaking banks in Japan, Swiss and GB. Credit markets are in panic and loans are hard to get.

UPDATE: From Financial Times:
European businesses are finding it harder to obtain credit from banks because of the global market turmoil, but no European banks seem to be in danger of collapse, the head of the European employers’ association said on Tuesday.
“Obviously, discussions with banks are now much more difficult. Banks are much more selective in the way they consider extending credit,” said Ernest-Antoine Seilličre, president of BusinessEurope.

Re: DLRP extensions in danger?

yes this is a problem

and at the very important time

when the results of the latest investements proofed a big rise in attendance, new investments are very necesary

I think only TWDC can put serieus dollars on the table at the moment

Euro Disney with its history is won't get a big loan at the moment

Re: DLRP extensions in danger?

DLP may actually benefit from this crisis. Europeans who regularly travel to the States or elsewhere outside of the continent may decide to stay closer to home and take shorter holidays. The result? Potential extra business for DLP.
Or it could swing the other way and people will look to holiday somewhere that does not charge five euros for a stinkin' cup of Nescafe.
Ah, what do I know anyway?!

Now is obviously the time to buy shares! (How does one go about doing that, by the way?)

I think that was the case anyway wasn't it? I thought the terms of the last financial restruture included some that limited where EDL could get credit from. It's a bit like doing one of those "consolidate your debt into one easy lone" things you get on daytime TV. The banks that allowed EDL to do this did not want EDL to then go out and take out more loans for fear that they won't get paid.

I guess the TWDC will look at the total picture if they invest in the parks they will keep the Imagineering part of the business ticking over, take advantage of the Euro/Dollor rate and continue to grow the european business. Assuming that the results show that the investment strategy has paid off.

Re: DLRP extensions in danger?

It appears despite the glabal financial crisis, DLRP is continuing with its expansion plans. A post over at the Magic Forum, shows pictures of marks being made in the ground over behind the Studio Tram Tour. Also permits have been made to remove 3.9900 ha of the forest.

What!? That is great news! The forest was a protected area. Now they have a space for larger Toon Studios and Town and longer Sunset Boulevard!

Re: DLRP extensions in danger?

So basically all this talk about them not being able to remove the forest as it is protected is rubbish? I have always found it really odd how people say they can never build on the forest, why would Disney have agreed to build their resort around a protected forest? makes no sense to me.

This can only be good news as it proves things are moving forward!

Anyone can make up a fake permit and put it up online. I never trust these types of "insider" photos.

People can fake these permits yes, but I trust the source completely here, so I can assure you this is no fake.
