Re: Your opinion on Phantom Manor

I'd go to DLR and see TSM there. Besides, Everest is not all that at this moment, especially since the Yeti AA has been out of commision for now and will be out for the foreseeable future.

I'm kind of holding back on the trip to the DLR at the moment. With DCA having the builders in working on fixing DCA, plus all the upcoming attractions coming up over the next 5 years, I'm going to hold of a vacation to California for the moment. Regarding Everest, I have read a bit about the Yeti not working and other effects which is a shame, but I will not allow it to ruin the trip. This sort of neglect is to be expected when it comes to WDW at times.

But you visiting the resort and "not letting it ruin the trip" is enough reason for WDW management not to try harder and fix the problems they have there. In fact, because so many guests donot care about the experience levels they get there.. that is why things at WDW rot for so long and go unfixed. And when you consider they charge over $79 for a day at DAK... do you think it's worth it?

but who pays the full admition price for a WDW park?

I think that percentage is very very low.

Most of the people have tickets in their hotel packages, or they buy multiple day hopper passes, making each extra day cheaper and cheaper (sometimes only a couple of dollars for just one day more).

They have such a high one-day-only-price because they want to let you stay longer. Not just because the price is justified by the quality they offer.

If you wish to get Management's attention and for them to try and improve the Resorts experience you personally need to start taking action and not renewing your Annual Passport each year is a good start. Hitting the Mouse where it hurts the most is the only way these execs will get the message. If you continue to book packages and buy tickets to the events than you are sending the message to Management, that you are more than happy with the WDW experience and will continue to support them each year. Now if I book a WDW package than why shouldn't I enjoy it and make the most of the experience, I've paid good money here after all!

As for Disney's Animal Kingdom, its actually one of the very few experiences I would be happy to pay money for at WDW. Is it worth the $79 admission fee, probarely not, but at the same time if I had to pay $79 to visit one park at WDW, DAK would get the vote.

Anyway hello everyone just come back from a very interesting trip to both the WDW and DLRP. I will over the next few days catch up on any post I have missed during my absense from the boards, and of course offer my opinions on both Resorts. However saying that I was very dissapointed with WDW overall compare with my last trip, while being very impressed with the DLRP experience.

Oh to get the thread back on topic, Phantom Manor is in a terrible state at the moment, plenty of broken effects, especially in the Ball Room scene and I did make a complaint at City Hall this time around. Of course broken effects were a plenty in WDW to, where Davy Jones can be heard but not seen. Poor showing from both Resorts here, but atleast DLRP made up for it in other areas.

More to come....

Welcome back James. Despite my rants, I am very sorry to hear your experiences matched mine. I cannot wait to hear what else you have to say. Hope you had a good time overall.

True, but you seem to miss the reasons of me purchasing the AP:
1) Cheapest way to enjoy the parks, repeatedly, simply because not all of it a loss cause. I do enjoy the parks so why not attend them?
2) Gives me the chance to rant, repeatedly, at City Hall when complaints have merit and due about specific problems. That is something you I believe you Malin do not care to do are even have the guts to do if necesary.

And believe me, If I chose to NOT to spend money on anything while visiting the parks, the AP price alone won't keep them afloat. They still depend on those of you who do not come to the parks repeatedly and pay top dollar for their profits.

Thanks Dave, although I have to admit most of the bad experiences came from other Guest and Castmembers, and not so much from recent Management decisions.

Regarding WDW your absolutely right I have very little interest in standing in City Hall on a Hot day during my limited vacation time talking to a Cast Member who clearly does not care about his job going though specific problems I have encountered during my trip to the park. If thats what you pay for your Annual Passport to do than more power to you my friend, but as for me I'm not going to be visiting WDW again for a very long time, so it can continue to decline for all I care.

As for not having the guts to complain perhaps you missed me mentioning my visit to City Hall in DLRP to complain to a very polite Cast Member about the effects in Phantom Manor not working. This Cast Member not only listen with interest to what I had to say but insisted I wrote my coments down so there could be passed on. Also during my time at City Hall the Cast Member was very interested to know what areas of the park I had enjoyed and if I had any other issues I would like to address. This as far as I was concern was fantastic Customer Service and was shown though out my trip to DLRP. And the reason why I will be heading back to Paris very soon, because Management care and actually want to improve the level of quality and service to all its guest, unlike WDW who are more concern with short term suscess. WDW has become to big to ever return to the standards it once had, and reason I'm giving up on the place and giving my full support to DLRP.

Re: Your opinion on Phantom Manor

I would wish to see multiple languages in PM, perhaps it could simply be done by having seperate wait line for English version? I think it gives more to the attraction when non-french speakers are able to understand what the Phantom is saying and the original Vincent Price voice over is brilliant that it is a shame alone not to have it. While French is the language of the county, some smart way for those who like it in English would be good customer service.

I was at the Phantom Manor few years back and it seems nothing is fixed to this day and effects have only deteriorated. I wonder do they have no budget at all to repair things (unless show stopping broken), or do they not just not care?

Few issues that come to mind:

At ballroom I wonder if it is the idea that phantom is static figure plainly at sight, or that you are suppose to only see a shadow (which we do not, as we see the figure clearly).

I think major problem with the Wild West scene is that it doesn't feel like ghostlike as none of the animatronics are transparent like in WDW or DL nor is it even very dark.

It does not also help that in the original the last great scene is a musical, and at PM we hear the theme (or any theme) only briefly. Even the busts are looking awful and stretched for some reason. I have heard the final was a lot more impressive originally...but I find it a bit hard to believe seeing it as it is now.
