I wonder what themes they will have, if any?

And, can anyone acess the link in the OP? Seems to go to 404 Not Found now....
Well Hath...can I call you Hath?.. The hotel theme is a good point. I guess it depends on what influence Disney have behind the scenes. We are informed from other rumours that Disney want to increase their hotel capacity. Is there enough demand to support two new hotels within the F1 track and the rumoured hotel(s) within Disney Village?

I would imagine the hotels will be nicely themed given their proximity to the Magic. Will one be themed around Pixar Cars? (see what I did there) Perhaps one modelled on Monte Carlo Casino Square?

Is Disney quietly happy to allow the track to be developed getting extract capacity and have an excuses not to develop the third park for a few years more. Then once the “locals” have moaned enough to have the race moved (for once their liking for peace and quite working in the parks favour) have the land back to develop the 3 park finances permitting.

I think one think is for sure there is not reason for us to think the F1 track will have an impact on the third park being developed. Disney will want to get from 1.5 to 2 parks before investing in park 3. They will also want to consolidate their position to weather the current financial climate.
I did think that perhaps the “threat” of a F1 track might actually bring the third park forward in their plans as perhaps the French government are saying to them “use it or lose it” but I think this is highly unlikely.

If and when Disney feel a third park is financially viable I don’t think there will issue in getting the land back. The number of jobs created by a third park will considerable more than a F1 track even if it were used more than once a year which we are being told it won’t. That will have great sway with the French Gov.

So let’s not get too upset. It is in no ones interest to completely stuff Disneyland Paris Resort.

That is a good point. I remember seeing "90% capacity" being bandied about, so I guess they're nearly there. And of course the F1 Paddock will take up quite a few rooms if they did come.

Well, no calling it "Hotel Formule 1" *shudder*

Cars Theme? Hmm.. "Wheel Well Motel" ?

Monte Carlo? They could go down that architectural route that's for sure. Brings up the question, which star bracket will the 2 hotels sit?

The only other thing that springs to mind, is that something along the Art Deco lines of TDLR's Ambassador (admittedly it would be a 2nd clone).

Well they could, but its a heck of a lot of money to effectively "waste" digging up the (expensive) tarmac.

That's a very interesting point. WDS is only "half-a-park" right now. Granted things are "in the works" (we hope) to rectify that, but they really need to keep "fixing" its short comings.

Well, its not a threat, EuroDisney said they were considering it (before the plans were released - presumably their position is the same).
But, you are right with "use it or loose it" - and it seems that the track could be classed as "an attraction" under the agreement.

Well, a third gate would be easier to pitch to the residents, that's for sure.
And, I can't see the track being used like most permanent facilities - the Schuman Straight sorts that out.

Agreed. They've saved it twice now - it would be moronic to have to do it again.

Re: F1 track revealed

I noticed from local sport news here in Finland(!) that EDL and F1 have abandoned their plans to organize F1 race at Disneyland Paris because of the financial crisis.

Re: F1 track revealed

Or maybe due to F1's insane demands. Bernie's ridiculous negotiations has sunk the hope of restarting the Canadian Grand Prix

Not just the Canadian - it's looking likely that Shanghai is not going to renew their contract either on the grounds of "too expensive".

This is one small benefit, let's hope it doesn't put Disney off of the other expansions.

Re: F1 track revealed

^Good point - although it would surely mean that funds available for this can now be spent elsewhere.

Re: F1 track revealed

has anyone seen any of the park allocation plans for the resorts future? I am not familiar with what those plans are or what section of the property area a third gate would occupy.

The second gate has a signifcant amount of property behind it that could in theory make it biggger than the MK (doubt that would happen)

The Mk is landlocked due to the construction around it unless they grow that park into part of the existing backlot tour of Walt Disney studio and build part of the access road to the Disneyland hotel underground.

The Disney studio could grow more along all the empty land. Roads would neeed to be re-aligned of course.

My question is where exactly would the third gate go. The biggest plot of land is on the opposite side of the resort. That large plot of land is Huge but cut in two with a road. How far would be a walk to the third gate without having to create somekind of transportation system?

here is an aerial of the area i found

Yes, I belive that land is available for expansion of WDS if needed. And I don't think I've ever seen a map showing the third gate on it - but there was that EPCOT rendering that showed a monorail.

Web browser and Live Maps are incompatible

The thrid park would go into the huge plot of land on the far side of the resort (the area that would have been enclosed within the F1 track, had the project gone ahead). If it goes ever goes ahead, it won't stand alone - the expansion plan calls for a further two/three hotels in the same area, as well as a brand new Disney Village-style entertainment complex.

The site is a fifteen/twenty minute walk from the other two parks, but a transport system would be created to ferry people back and forth. And I mean literally ferry them - the area where the Panoramagique balloon is currently situated would be converted into a boat launch and a fleet of water taxis would take guests down the length of Lake Disney to a corresponding port in the new entertainment/hotel complex, with the third theme park just a few minutes away.

If you want an idea of where this would all be, the second boat launch would be situated more or less where the small service dock now sits, beside the football pitch in the aeriel photograph.
