Re: Bye bye Chapperal Theatre

The theatre shows are really needed during the high season to soak up the crowds during the afternoon. They make a good alternative to a 90 minute wait for Big Thunder, which without them would be longer still.

Again, they learned that from the WDW team back during the pre-opening year in 91.

So makes you wonder, has demolition just been delayed or was the talk of its demise premature?

We definitely know that Tarzan won't be on schedule for the summer season.

We also heard that rumour that a theatre has to go to make space for an attraction. But which one:

Fantasy Festival Stage - to make space for "Little Mermaid" or "Winnie the Pooh"

Chapparal Theatre - to make space for a "Splash Mountain" and bring some life into this area of the park, which will be very calm without any show going on

I'm really hoping for the proposed Little Mermaid darkride in Fantasyland. I know that means the demolition of the Fantasy Festival Stage, which is sad but will ultimately be better for the park. I performed on the FFS with my college choir back in 2004, and it was great to be part of the park for that day! Here's hoping that DLP will come up with another venue for similar performances if they go ahead with the Little Mermaid

As far as the Chapperal Theatre is concerned, I never saw the Tarzan show, and I've probably missed my chance I've read that the show is excellent, but maybe it is time for something new to refresh that area of Frontierland? An E-ticket such as Splash Mountain would be great, but something bespoke for DLP would be even better... (cough) Western River Expedition (cough)!

These all appear to be rumours. Can anyone conclusively confirm that both or either of these venues are being demolished?
