Re: Phantom Manor gets Floating Leota !

Oh, that's exciting! Because the current Magic Kingdom version makes Phantom Manor's Leota look like a ball of fluff with googly eyes. The difference in projection clarity is enormous. At least I assume this involves a change of projection systems.

Can't wait to see your pictures.

Re: Phantom Manor gets Floating Leota !

This is good news but I hope that some of the more obvious problems with PM have been fixed too.

How exciting! I can't wait for a full major refurb though! That will make this one my favorite again...in some ways it still is.

I've read reports that the attraction did not open today as schedule.

Re: Phantom Manor gets Floating Leota !

Well, this just in.

The ride has reopened. Member Ptitmath of Disney Central Plaza went on it and saw that Leota does not levitate.* Her face however has been changed (he didn't say whether it was an improvement.) Some further tweaking has been done, and the "Prepare to exit to the living world" sign has been replaced (he didn't like the result.) And there was something about carpeting that I didn't quite catch.

All in all, another disappointment. Although if they at least brought Leota's snout up to Haunted Mansion standards, I would be satisfied, personally.

*Although occasionally in the Haunted Mansions, when the levitation effect is broken, she still functions, just in one place. It's probably wishful thinking, but perhaps they're just still working on it?

I can't help but be disappointed by this too, Phantom Manor is such an amazing attracton, and one of my absolute favourties at DLP, but everytime I go on it, I always manage to see something that should be fixed!

Like you say, they might still be fixing stuff, so I should shut up and wait and see haha!

Re: Phantom Manor gets Floating Leota !

Someone else said the scene has been much improved, with subtler lighting and a much sharper projection of Leota's face. He/she also said she's been given a new, longer hairdo (as opposed to the ball of lint that used to pass for hair), which certainly points to the new Leotas on the other side of the Atlantic.

I bet they've imported the new high-definition back-projected version used at the Magic Kingdom since last year. Phantom Manor still had the ancient back-projection system, so I'm sure this was an easier fix than to install Disneyland's system.

Re: Phantom Manor gets Floating Leota !

How is the rest of the attraction looking after the current refurbishment. I was disspointed by the state of the attraction back in Nov/Dec. Especially the Ball Room scene.

Re: Phantom Manor gets Floating Leota !

Mee too. Half the ghosts in the scene were not dancing. Very bad show.
*Sheesh!* At least our old version of the Haunted Mansion at TDL still looks in pristine condition and everything works on cue.

Re: Phantom Manor gets Floating Leota !

I rode Phantom Manor yesterday and it is nice to see a Phanton Manor with all the AAs working . Leota looks brand new but she is not levitating and the new lights in that room changed as well .
