Nice TR

I have to admit to chuckling at the following: -
a) the balloons stuck in the ceiling of the castle*
b) the crappy merchandise in front of Walt's picture**
c) the bird crap on Walt's head**

* imagine the tears that accompanied their arrival there!
** both grossly inappropriate and both probably only available at DLP!

ok here's the video of the stars and cars parade.

please bare in mind it was taken with my digital camera and i'm not a good cameraman :-)

those who suffer from motion sickness will probably want to give it a miss!!

woody was very kind with his hat tip straight down the lens.

i think thursday and fridays pics may have to wait till tomorrow, i'm all copy and pasted out :-)

thanks for the kind comments, glad you're enjoying it.

Re: Sgt. Tibs at DLP 05/04/09 - 10/04/09

No need for tears because of the balloons.
The last time, we were told, you get a new balloon, when you've set your old one free. Only thing you have to do is, show the receipt as proof of purchase. Of course it has to be on the same day.

And for the crappy castle playset. My little daughter loves this set. I bought it on our last trip in november. Not worth 20 Euro, but worth a happy face.
But true it shouldn't be displayed like that in front of Walt's picture. Looks

Btw GREAT! trip report. Loved it.

Your trip report is wonderful! Thanks so much for doing all the work to share your great pictures and experience.

Next time I am lucky enough to visit Europe, Disneyland Paris will surely be on the agenda.

It looks super cool!

Thanks for the excellent photos/trip report - the video is great - shows the exit of the cars really well - can't wait for our trip in July.

Re: Sgt. Tibs at DLP 05/04/09 - 10/04/09

so thursday!

this was our clean up day when we tried to mop up the smaller things we'd by-passed earlier in the week in favour of the big stuff. it was a gorgeous sunny day too so we did swiss family robinson tree house, another nice train ride, watched princess aurora and prince phillip in the courtyard from the balcony of the castle and generally took photos of nice things :-)

this is my favourite picture from the whole week :-)

more work in adventureland.

then we did nautilus but it was rammed so no great shots came out of there :-)

we saw this guy picking stuff out of the lagoon, and he didn't really look out of place as he was quite piratey but he started running out when he saw me taking pics :-)

ok, so walt's. the anticipation of this experience had been built up quite a lot in my mind by reading all the great stuff about it on here and it was bascially the same experience as i had in the rest of the park, the place was amazing, the food was amazing, the staff was not amazing.

i don't think you can feel more connected to the spirit of Disney anywhere else in DLP. it was very special and the fillet steak was the best i have ever had, easy. here's the gripe:

i show up the day before to make the reservation, they were only serving up until 4pm all week so i got a table for 3:45. fine.

we show up at 3:40 and the lady at the desk downstairs was very nice. i asked her if we could have a table by the window to watch the parade as it was just about to start. 'what an amazing way to end the holiday' i thought. she obliges and keys us in to the computer for table 10, right down the far end overlooking main street. fine.

we get upstairs and the maitre'd takes our reservation ticket and goes to check if the table is ready. she comes back and during the time she has gone another group of 4 has come up the stairs behind us. just as she is about to seat us she greets them and asks a passing waiter to seat them at table 10. gutted.

she then tries to seat us in the middle of another room which was very crowded. i point out the error and she moves us to the pirates room round the corner next to a window with a view of dapper dans, and the view of main street totally obscured! angry.

i made sure this did not ruin our meal and the other staff were fine until the maitre'd came back at the end with the bill before we even requested it, trying to hurry us out as the place was now almost empty.

ok saving grace, pirates is the favourite part of disney for all 4 of us. the ride, the films, everything. it was an awesome room but this treatment was inexcusable in my eyes. small point, and not wanting to get rude, but the group behind us was french. it was almost a wink wink type of thing. screw the english. i did feel discriminated against.

anyway moving on. it didn't spoil it for me, it was still awesome and walt even looked after my hat when i left it behind. i walked back in 5 mins later and picked it up without seeing a soul. it felt pretty good :-)

here are some pics

obligitory toilet shots

this is my favourite disney related picture ever. haunting and powerful. i remember seeing it for the first time when i was about 11 (29 now) and it's stayed with me ever since. it IS disney for me.

ok i think that will about do it. friday morning we did more pirates and soaked up the atmos for one last time, oh yeah and squeezed in storybook land :-)

overall, i loved my trip, you and i know what these places and walt mean to us. it's indescribable.
everytime i'm down or someone ridicules my obsession with 'kids stuff' i just think of that feeling of looking down main street and seeing that castle. HE captured that for all of us.

i will say though that next time i'm gonna save that little bit more (hardly anything really) and plan for WDW. 2 weeks in florida for a little bit more than 6 days in paris is a no brainer. and the Paris management and Disney management in general seriously need to address their recruitment and training at DLP.

thanks for reading guys. i found this site just after my last trip two years ago and it's become my second home. you guys are awesome and i love talking with people that i know feel the same as me :-)

That's nice and just to let you know if you haven't seen.
In the castle there is a stain glass of rose that changes to 2 doves.
Can't wait for more.

Thanks so much for that great trip report... probably the best I've read on here! It's made me miss DLRP so much and I'm definitely heading back there later this year for three or four nights. And I must get to Walt's as well... those deserts look YUM!

Re: Sgt. Tibs at DLP 05/04/09 - 10/04/09

thanks for the tip phantom boy, i missed that this time.

that's the end of the report though unfortunately, although you can check out more of my pics on my photobucket page if you want :-)

DLP 09 pictures by sgttibs - Photobucket

mommyto4 - yeah, there's definately less rides in WDS, there's 3 more on the way soon though :-) and i think the main park is probably a couple short too. i know everyone this side of the pond would love a splash mountain.

and thats high praise mister peterman, thank you. i really wanted to contribute something worthwhile to the site.
