There is a lot of anti-WDW feeling on these boards. And I can understand why and am not arguing the point.

However - as long as you go to WDW without expecting a larger version of DLP, there is a lot to enjoy. I aim to visit WDW soon-ish and will probably end up doing it before I return to DLP. WDW offers a massive array of attractions, shows and fun. Sure it may be all tacky and far away from Walt's original dream - but it's still fun. And since pro-rata you can go to WDW for cheaper than DLP and can at least guarantee better weather than that of Northern France, I'm up for it!

Sgt Tibs, great collection of photos, some the very best I have seen of DLP in these forums. Also, go ahead and enjoy yourself at WDW, without being swayed by the bias on this site. Standards and offerings have in many respects declined at WDW over the years, and as an individual park DLP is much more beautiful than the MK...but in its totality WDW still has a lot to offer...and even the MK has at least two attractions - Splash Mt and Mickey's Philharmagic - that (at least in my opinion) would be worthwhile even for the DLP regular. Animal Kingdom and Epcot are both unique parks with lots to offer, that you won't find elsewhere.

you guys are right, the sheer amount of stuff at WDW means it is a must see, and also that it is technically cheaper than DLP.

i really want to do the waters parks! and epcot :-)

would love to see DL dave but the Disney machine over here puts all the emphasis on WDW and DLP and that's where they put all the promotions. unfortunately i don't think i could afford a DL trip. i don't think i've seen one advert for DL over here ever!

You would be surprised. I always seem to spend less at DL and have a FAR better time. Often the flights, hotels and food is much cheaper. Look into it.

Don't miss Animal Kingdom...my favorite park in Orlando...while it is still a work in progress (like all the parks that have opened in the past decade, except TDS), it has some great theming (don't miss the nature walks in Asia and Africa), unique rides, and high caliber shows. Even DHS has some worthwhile offerings...and although similar in some respects to WDS, you will find enough to enjoy there. Also depending on your priorities and time...the Universal parks are well worth a visit...Spiderman remains the world's best simulator ride, even after a decade...and next year will see the debut of the Harry Potter kuka arm ride, something you won't find anywhere else.

I have just returned from Anaheim and while the original DL is a superlative park, as a resort there is definitely more at WDW. I agree, where visiting Anaheim is concerned, it makes most sense to wait until after Carsland opens at DCA, though even now the original DL has enough to justify a trip (and of course if you're going to Southern California don't just limit yourself to Disneyland resort).

Could it be worst because most of the guests at WDW are *british*? Just today.. 4 Boeing 747-400s sitting at the Orlando Airport. Do we really need that many tourists from the UK?
In regards tio the cast, CMs at WDW do not do better because 1) poor training it seems, and 2) short staffing, unlike the TDR Cast on both accounts.

Yes, but bigger does not make WDW better. Au contraire... the reason why WDW is in shambles is because of the higher maintenance expense.

Oh this is a silly argument, they're all fantastic and let's hope that anything that makes us say "Yikes!" is sorted!

If you are going to start flinging racist slurs around at least have the good grace to spell our nationality with a capital letter.

And well said Fizzy! I'd rather be at any Disney Resort than at work any day of the week!

Re: Sgt. Tibs at DLP 05/04/09 - 10/04/09

Please let's not have this thread degenerate into another WDW bashing thread and / or personal spat. Sgt Tibs, just go wherever you choose to go with an open mind and with the intention of enjoying yourself. If you go expecting not to enjoy yourself, that's exactly what will happen. Afterwards, you can decide for yourself what your verdict is.

You know what I'd like to bash? The word "bash." Who says that? Ten years ago no one was using that word. You could differentiate between evaluating, criticizing, critiquing, insulting, debating and just really p***ing all over something like there was no tomorrow. People really believed there were subtle differences between those tactics. Now, anything negative is "bashing."

Anyway, humidity is not a pretty thing. That climate is very overrated.

(Bashing the weather there...)

You're right about the humidity - that's why one should go in Oct, Nov, Feb or Mar ideally...when weather is generally terrific. Even in Dec and Jan weather is generally not nearly as cold as Paris or Tokyo. However since Sgt Tibs wants to check out the water parks he may want to go some time before fall or after winter (ie Sept or April) since at least one of them is likely to be closed otherwise...and while he's at it, if it interests him (and if he doesn't mind splurging)...then a trip to Discovery Cove may be worthwhile.

Re: Sgt. Tibs at DLP 05/04/09 - 10/04/09

ok, yeah, i'm gonna ignore the xenophobia and say that it probably will be april that i visit WDW, if and when i do (apart from maybe a day or two this sep) mostly because it's cheaper than summer.

and i'll also keep an open mind. i'm an extremely optimistic person and don't let anything spoil my holidays, as i just experienced at DLP!

i've wanted to go to WDW since i was very small, it is the park that all us Brits wanna go to, and that is mainly because the Disney marketing people make it that way. as i said before all the promotions aimed at us are for DLP and WDW and that's probably why Orlando airport is full of us :-)
