DLP 71.9 Million Net Loss Due To Falling Attendance

Internal park figures show that visitor numbers from Spain and the United Kingdom are seriously down. According to EuroDisney SCA reports, an equally serious profit loss is the result of the downturn.

"The net loss in the six months ended March 31 was 71.9 million euros ($94 million), up from 37.5 million euros a year earlier, the company, based east of Paris, said in a statement today. Sales fell 7.3 percent to 558.8 million euros."

Apparently, the poor economy is hurting DLP right at a time when it is making major strides to get back on it's feet. Let's hope the economy improves soon. Hope some of the rumored major attraction additions occure at the two Paris parks over the course of the next few years as well.

Apparently Bloomberg didn't bother their yellow press brains too much to see that attendance is UP several per cent, that Edl made loss during 1st quarter last year also, that eastern high season went to 2nd quarter this year, and last but not least: the € 30 million difference comes directly from property sales that were made last year.

True that Britts and Spanish don't come in big numbers right now, but French do.
