Walt Disney Studios 22 May

This is not that much a report... itīs more me hating what Disney have made to the plot of land next to the Disneyland Park outside Paris.

I did not expect much from this park at all. It looked nice when entering but inside it was obvious that Disney has made a huge mistake.
What helped was the great weather that day. Everything looks better in the sunshine. But fact remains, this is one ugly park.

The different sections has no life on their own. Itīs not like when you are going from Adventureland to Fantasyland. It all looks like a parkinglot with buildings signs. If it only had a Mainstreet type of road in perhaps themed to the golden age of Hollywood or something that took visitors from reality to the world of movies and movie making it would have worked better. While designing Toon Studios the should have made it look more like a Toon Town Studio Lot and not just the "right section" of the parkinglot. Toystory will not do anything for this Disneyīs Parkinglot Adventure.

The good thing is that it aleast has few really good rides. The first thing we did when entering was to go and see the stunt show with was a great way for us to wake up. I thought it could have had a bit more explosions but... atleast I got to see an old time favorite again, Herbie. After the show we went to Crush. Now this is a ride that I love. It has a theme and is build on a solid enough idea. It was something that we all wanted to do again. TOT was nice. One of my favorite rides (the one in Florida is awesomest!). Aerosmith was a favorite among the Disneypark virgins.

But after having walked back and forth we started to miss Disneyland.
Since that park is not far, we left WDS after only about 4-5 hours when we had done what we came for, and headed to the best themepark in Europe.

Here are some videos of that sunny day a week ago:

Hereīs also a video from the amazing... Disney Village:

So much potential, so many mistakes. That entrance after going through Studio 1 could be spectacular, but right now it's incomplete. The idea of bursting out of the dark studio into the bustle of Hollywood is great, it's just half-arsed at the mo. I even think that Studio 1 could stay as it is, it kinda works, but for heavens' sake, at least put palm trees in stead of green leafy ones.

Re: Walt Disney Studios 22 May

They should make the responsible ones visit DisneySEA and then make them walk the walk of shame all the way through WDS.

funny, although I understand what people say, we just spent a week at DLP and spent about an equal amount of time at DLP and WDSP. And although we love the details at the original, we adore the different vibe and attractions of WDSP. Add in Stars and Cars, the shows, and everything else, this park has a special vibe.

WDS is by far not good enough. Anyone of us here could do a 100-times much better job in designing the park.
But I agree that it does have it highlights. Itīs strength according to me is in itīs rides.

Re: Walt Disney Studios 22 May

Given the budget and timescales (as well as the fact I have spent many a time on a studio lot in the US and UK, this is well themed as a Studio). Having logged 300+ trips to DL, and 50 odd in DLP, I love the stark difference.

I like the distinct character of the park. and things like Moteurs Action, Cinemagique, and Tower of Terror are amonst some of the very best things Disney have ever done.

Yes, it has good attractions. It's just their tossed-salad arrangement that's bothersome.

Re: Walt Disney Studios 22 May

Thank you davewasbaloo! I'm glad someone else thinks it had a certain energetic vibe that's very different from DLP, I just needs to brush up and neaten up.

I think we all can agree on that. itīs just that it is sloppy performed.
If DCA is getting a change... why shouldnīt WDS?
