2012 : Disneyland Paris 20th Anniversary ?

Let's start a thread about DLP's 20th Anniversary Celebration rumours .

1st i hope the celebrations wont last 3 years like the 15th .


here are the rumours around the internet about DLP's 20th Anniversary .

After the Toy Story Playland just opened in 2010 in the studios DLP Management will focus their work on the 20th Anniversary .

Disneyland Park :

Splash Mountain or another water ride
Indy Adventure ( Impossible )
Spectro Magic in replacement of Fantillusion

Walt Disney Studios :

Soarin over ..... ?
New Studios Expansion to offer more attractions ?

We are only 3 years ahead before the 20th and except Toy Story Playland i don't see any new Constructions yet .

I Heard a rumor saying that Amargadon is being replaced for a narina Walkthourgh like folirda i think.

Based on rumours floating around, and if money wasn't an issue I would love to see...

Disneyland:
1) The Little Mermaid dark ride in Fantasyland.
2) Splash Mountain and creation of "Critter Country" in Cottonwood Creek.
3) Beauty and the Beast AA show in Fantasyland
4) Indiana Jones Adventure
5) All attractions to be cleaned up/made top notch for the 20th!
6) Bring back Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune

Walt Disney Studios:
1) Ratatouille dark ride
2) Expansion and improvements to Studio Tram Tour
3) Improved landscaping and themeing throughout the entire park.

Considering that Disney has dropped the Narina movies I think that they will also drop this idea.

Here's what I think we can expect:

Disneyland Park

The Little Mermaid dark ride (Fantasyland)
OR
Splash Mountain (Frontierland or Adventureland)

Walt Disney Studios Park

Toy Story Midway Mania (Toy Story Playland)
OR
Ratatouille dark ride (Toon Studio)
AND
At least one new set piece for Studio Tram Tour

A new Ratatouille-themed shop is also said to be in the works for Toon Studio (although this might open in 2010, at the same time as Toy Story Playland).

^^^ For DLP I think the most likely next big thing will be a Little Mermaid ride. But if it's going to open by 2012 then construction will have to start next year...I guess we'll see. I think Splash or a raft ride will eventually get built...but am not sure the suits are willing to spend that kind of money just right now.

For WDS my bet is on TSMM, somewhere adjacent to the Playland. Though I'll be surprised if Soarin' doesn't get added sometime in the next decade. I think the impetus to build a Ratatouille ride may have died down...

Surely Star Tours II and a replacement for HISTA are likely. They'll be so old by then.

Personally I'd like to see Splash Mountain and Soarin' more than anything else. Along with those I think there should be some major placemaking projects at WDS over the next few years. The Theatre District placemaking rumour just fizzled out completely. It was supposed to be ready by next year. There was also the rumour of turning Backlot into "Action Studios", which again just fizzled out. Instead we're left with the Toy Story Playland garbage and no sign of any effort to actually improve WDS with real theming.

I hope they don't scrap Ratatouille for TSM; that was one toon attraction I was actually looking forward to.

If you look at the current offerings at WDS there is almost no thematic coherence or immersion. This park will probably never be anything more than a disparate collection of rides and shows. So the more quality rides, the merrier...regardless of theme.

Star Tours 2 will likely debut in Anaheim before anywhere else...but there has been no substantive movement towards this upgrade lately...so I would think that the soonest we can expect it is around 2011. Any DLP version would likely follow some time later...so ST2 at DLP by 2012 is probably the most optimistic anyone can get. Myself, I would expect it to happen by 2013 or 2014...not in time for the 20th. As for HISTA, there haven't been any rumoured replacements at all. Certainly I don't think it's going to happen by 2012.

IF Disney wanted to do something big and worthwhile, I think they would opt for either Splash Mountain or The Little Mermaid.

But my gut is kinda telling me they'll just throw in an over-used Pixar attraction.

My thoughs are if they surrounded the whole forest behind the Cast Building it's because they might be focusing on bulding another thing after the Toy Story Playland . As the constructions would last 2 years it would be just in time for the 20th .

Something disappointing, no doubt. I rather feel that Splash Mountain should be shelved but only if the money is spent well at WDS in stead. As in turning Production Courtyard into a real Hollywood Street and tarting up Toon Studio and Backlot. It'll probably be some awful Pixar addition in Toon Studio but ideally a new land in WDS of some sort, an expansion anyway. Oh I dunno, fact is (apologies for feeling particularly pessimistic this evening) it'll be a big disappointment and last for 7 years. Yikes...
