Ratatouille - kitchen fresh or sewer-bound?

So the new trackless Ratatouille dark ride has been announced for WDS and has been greeted on this site with a frenzied apathy.

So what's it all about Alfie? Are we really non-plussed by this new addition or could it potentially help boost our second gate up to the level of 'adequate'?

Discuss...

Re: Ratatouille - kitchen fresh or sewer-bound?

I had added a poll to this thread but for some reason it didn't work. Oh well.

I am waiting for more information before I make up my mind on this one.

Announced? Not officially as far as I know.

Should be a good ride. Somehow the thought of someday going on the Pooh ride in Tokyo still interests me more...perhaps because it is based on a more timeless story. But that may change when / if these rumours become reality.

It'll be interesting. I think this and TSPL should really help out. It's still a small park which it will be for quite a long time.

This is fantastic news and exactly what the Studios needs. Ratatouille was a big hit in France when first released. In my opinion using this attraction makes much more sense than the construction of the Crush Coaster, Cars or the upcoming Toy Story Land. At least the movies roots belong to Paris. Finally the Studios is getting a family dark ride with AA's.

I've never been on the Pooh ride at Tokyo, but it certainly sounds fun. I hope this isn't just a rumour as I'd quite like to see it happen as Ratatouille is one of my favourite Pixar movies.

Have to agree with you there.

The idea of another GPS ride, especially outside of Asia is a good thing, but I'm still not really sure until I hear more about it.

Re: Ratatouille - kitchen fresh or sewer-bound?

Well if it was a much bigger hit in Europe as everyone keeps saying then, well, yeah, I'm very happy for it to happen, but for heavens' sake WDS: HAVE THE BALLS TO JUST RENAME TOON STUDIO TO PIXAR STUDIO! It even removes any akward theming issues, a Pixar-themed land I wouldn't mind, cos it's a land themed to the films of a particular unique studio, but forget this "The toons go to work" crap and make a sensible business and artistic decision. I'm sure the animagique building is a wondefully blank canvas for a restaurant, show or attraction, the animation exhibition can easily be moved, and the carpets too. I'm all for: Front Lot (Studio 1), Hollywood Square, Pixar Studios, Backlot/Action Studios. Then the park would be in a good place for expansion (I'm thinking Sound Dept. featuring an updated Sounds Dangerous and some street sets). I think Ratatouille could definitely yeild good things.

Re: Ratatouille - kitchen fresh or sewer-bound?

I agree Fizzy. The Magic Carpets can be re-themed as Wall-E or Bugs Life (or maybe Up?) and I would dearly love to see Animagique changed into an Incredibles or Monsters Inc show. The only animation-themed attraction that should not be encroached upon by Pixar in WDS is Art of Animation - that just needs to be completely overhauled, refurbed and rethought... time to revive the 'Roger Rabbit's Art of Animation' idea?!

Re: Ratatouille - kitchen fresh or sewer-bound?

Why not split it and have the toon area (art of animation, animagique and flying carpets) then Disney Studios. I am not sure where the entrance to toy story land would be but the split shouldn't be too hard:

So far all the Pixar stuff is together and if Ratatouille goes ahead it sounds like it would be in this new Pixar land too.

WDS will become Disney's Movie Park.

A Monster's Inc Dark Show would be quite good idea actually.

Especially as there's a not so secret sequel in the works.

Re: Ratatouille - kitchen fresh or sewer-bound?

I could live with their being the Animation Section then the Pixar section, but definitely the carpets still need a change. It also might soften the difference between Hollywood and a (hopefully) colourful and fun Pixar area. So, Front Lot, Hollywood Square, Animation Square, Pixar Studio, Action Studio. Makes it seem bigger too. Maybe eventually WDS will get over the philosiphy of "let's place stuff randomly". Even the new Hollywood Blvd stuff seems randomly assorted.
