Re: DLP: Kingdom of Spires

Very beautiful photos.

In my opinion, DLP is one of the most beautiful of the parks, at least from pics I've seen, though some day I will visit, sigh*.

In contrast, the mundane:

What I find so astounding about the design of DLP is not only the quality of architecture/materials/craftsmanship, or all the details (circumnavigating covered walkway), but how well the transitions and cross-land vistas work together.

It's a little disconcerting that of the six men who led its design and building (Baxter, Burke, Sotto, Tietz, Morris and Delaney), only two remain with WDI.
That isn't a fair comparison at all. That is a very artistic shot of Disneyland Park and a cheap compressed shot of the Studios.

Is this a fair comparison? No.

You make a good point, but I don't think showing even Walt Disney Studios with the same high-definition and fine-tuned lighting that were in the Disneyland Paris pictures would make it look that much better. Your picture of the entrance is just about the only exception though. And seeing as this is a thread about the architectural detail of Disneyland Paris, it makes no sense to use lower quality pictures with poor or dull colors. The effect is just not the same if for example, he had used an unedited picture like the one you posted.

I agree that Disneyland Park wins hands down but I do like to see a fair fight.

^It says something that the "cheap compressed shot" was the most attractive overview shot of WDSP I could find. Here is a more fair photo comparison of the sublime and mundane (same time, angle, camera/photographer):

The newest additions- Tower of Terror and Toon Studios (nicest parts of the park) aren't in the picture.

Since then, DLP management has slowly yet steadily chipped away at the original quality of the park.

So go sooner than later to appreciate its superb design. And I recommend going when the weather is warm or at least tolerable.

I grew up in a cold part of the US, and trips to WDW were a welcome respite. I never realized how important a part of my Disney experience the 80 degree weather and palm trees were until I visited DLP for the first time on a cold, drizzling November day.

I quickly learned no matter how beautiful or detailed a park may be, it is difficult for me to appreciate it in uncomfortably cold, wet, defoliated weather.

I know what you mean.... that kinda happened to me when I went to WDW. I noticed I could not appreciate it the same way I did with Disneyland.... it was just too humid! haha

Altough I would love to see DL Paris with snow! I have seen some pics and it looks just amazing!
