Once more, tackiness ensues

Yes, what used to be a pretty fountain in the summer with a map of New York City on the bottom has now been converted into a karting arena.

Now I know I've bitched in the past about peeling paint this and discolouration that, but am I the only one who gets chest pains seeing what's happening to the Disney Village/Lake Disney area? You've got the carousel and the bungee thing and the big white tent and now this. As if Disney Village wasn't enough of an eyesore and they needed to balance out its excessive beauty with a few of these.

I can even understand a certain passive behaviour with financial problems as profound as Euro Disney's, but this thing took work. A team of people actually worked hard at creating all this ugly. The same thing happened last Halloween.

Finally, this is a four star hotel. Did anyone at all even think of that?

Yeah I am clueless about this one too... it they want to promote it as a resort, please make sure there are some places to RELAX! These things are rather popular though, I suppose all we can do is COMPLAIN!

Oh, that just makes me feel sick. Why do they have to keep crapping up this beautiful resort (the studios excepted, that was already crap)?

Thank you for the photo.

Re: Once more, tackiness ensues

Yup, That is pretty ugly. And worse, it doesn't even look fun AT ALL! No theming,
And the area doesn't have any relevance to it....

Who makes these stupid, wacky decisions? It's completely brain-dead IMHO.

Is this a "Hot" must have in France/Continent right now?

Re: Once more, tackiness ensues

Look how ugly the little buildings are. And that color scheme??? Come on, the French have much better taste than this. Yuck!

I don't think I've read anything in the last week that made me this mad (and I'm not sure why). It is almost like they want everyone to hate this resort. For goodness sake, at least theme it to the new Pixar Cars movie. Right?

i'm sure those people who decided to put that stupid thing are the same people who made the Walt Disney Studios come to life as they are right now .

Hey BOB Send those People to Six Flags not to a Disney Park lol

Re: Once more, tackiness ensues

The Paris threads consist of a lot of criticism of the resort (some justified, some not so) but I'm with everyone else on this one - ugly, stupid and wrong! If it had just cropped up out of nowhere it would have been bad enough, but to replace the fountains!?

I thought the whole Village/Lake area was supposed to be moving away from these cheap traveling carnival "rides"?
I'm guessing this isn't an "official" Disney thing - it reeks of pimping out all available space to a third party with no concern for magic levels!

No, I doubt it. Otherwise this would be closer to the Village. I can understand these little carnival things for DLP...they need all the little promotions they can get. If they can do a midly popular promotion for a small amount of money, then I say do it. The village in old form and new form is friggin ugly as it is...what are a few carnival games?

But at the hotel...I feel bad for those coughing up money for a Graves hotel to get there to find the fountain has become, not a pretty ice skating rink, but a vicious go kart track.

Gads! I had forgotten how nice that fountain was! And it offsets the browns
and the reds of the walls of the hotel beautifully!

Yikes! Now I'm mad, too! That was a critical element of the hotel grounds that
they just destroyed!

And all for something pretty lame. :-(

Re: Once more, tackiness ensues

Is that former fountain area the same as place they use for ice skating at Rockafella Center in the winter? That is really a pathetic change, does anyone know how temporary that is supposed to be there?

All the sensitivity of a Hooker at a funeral. Be thankful...they were gonna put it on Main Street. What happened to the France that has impeccible taste? Don't these people come from the Ecole des Beaux Arts?

I don't know if I'd say Beaux-Arts and impeccible taste go hand inhand...
