Exclamation Early 1992 promo for 'EuroDisney'

If you have any VHS versions of Beauty and the Beast which I think were released circa 1992-3, you can catch a short 15-sec promo for the forthcoming EuroDisney Resort in France. Hmph.

The entire ad is based upon footage from Walt Disney World. We start by zooming down Main Street, USA, underneath Cinderella Castle (no Sleeping Beauty Castle to be seen) and seeing a Broadway style show of Beauty and the Beast - very a la Disney-MGM Studios. There are shots of a man playing golf, and a family playing around in the pool at Disney's Yacht Club - all the way from WDW! Ok, so the ad isn't finished yet - maybe at least one shot of Euro Disney?

No.

But in possibly a forewarning to the EuroDisney castle, we see a hotel assistant opening up the French doors and the family he is guiding are amazed at a wonderful view of Cinderella Castle. A pink Cinderella Castle. The advertising tech wizs had coloured the Florida Cinderella Castle a majestic (yeah right) but very kitsch pink. Give me strength.

If you have BatB on original VHS, or any other Disney feature released on VHS between say 1992 and up to Euro Disney's opening, see if the promo is a part of the viewing schedule. Seeing is believing.

I used to have the Little Mermaid video that had a similar advert at the end. Though it was substantially longer than 15 seconds. It was about a family in a Mickey Mouse-shaped hot air balloon, and then the boy fell asleep and started having a dream in which he experienced "Euro Disney" (read: a doctored Walt Disney World). It was indeed odd to see Cinderella Castle coloured pink. Though that was before they turned the real thing into a sodding birthday cake, haha.

Lovely footage of the Magic Kingdom, though. I love that version of the Party Gras parade they had.

Yeah there was a Party Gras sequence in the one I saw as well, and Goofy riding Big Thunder Mountain.

Well.. probably it as a makeshift promo due to them not having any footage from the park yet.... kind of like when you look at some things for some ads.. you can see other parks footage mixed with yors.. (aka the disney dogs comerical having fun in the park... soo DL with a WDW's castle super imposed over DL's...)

yeah my 92 souvenir book from EURO DISNEY is all WDW pix too, with a few drawings and so forth but the train, Main Street and all the photos are from the U.S.
