1. That spiel must have been hurled out the window years ago, or I am going deaf.
2. That sounds wonderful, as so many things do that have been hurled out the window years ago by Euro Disney.
3. That still doesn't explain how a woman who didn't become famous until 1912 and only acquired her famous first name in the 1960s is somehow immortalised on a riverboat that should technically be afloat in the 19th century.

But I don't wish to be overly anal about this rather trivial issue. It's a fun name with a clever innuendo.

Yeah, I think they were going more for an American historical icon then a 19th century figure.

So they sort of figured no one in Europe would figure it out anyway. Little did they know that a little movie in 1997 would increase lady Brown's fame slightly, I suppose.

Didn't you know that you have to be a qualified psychic to become an Imagineer?

Ah. It all makes sense now. I can see how a bunch of psychics would have decided to build Euro Disney for two billion dollars...

No, no, no. You misinterpreted me.
Michael Eisner spent two billion dollars by making the psychic Imagineers build all those silly hotels which were and still are parasites on that beautiful park!

Re: Sauvons le Molly Brown !

Once and for all it has been made clear that franch cast members are *******es and know nothing about future plans....

it has been made official to Shareholders a couple of months ago that the molly brown will get a major rehab at the end of the summer season (somewhere mid-september), after two months (it should be finished at the same time BTM is reopening) it will replace the Mark Twain for a while so that boat can be upgraded with new engines and get some new paint.... summer season 2007 will see both river boats happily drifting over the rivers of the far west....

So no union is needed, and yea it's rotten right now, but within three months the boat will be BLING!!!!

I hate french CM's, they are ignorant and yet the make bold statements about things they think they know.

The whole reason she was ON the Titanic was because her husband discovered oil and they became wealthy residents of (Denver?), which is in "the West", if you may recall.

Ah, I see. That makes a lot of sense. Well, barring the "Molly" part obviously, but still.

The official imagineering explaination is:

"Ever since gold was discovered in the mine at Thunder Mesa, two more boats - considerably more opulent than the smugglers' keelboats - have been plying the river around the mine: the Mark Twain and the Molly Brown. Named after the famous writer and author of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, the Mark Twain first traveled the rivers of Frontierland at Disneyland in the 1950's. Recreating it at Disneyland Paris was a simple decision. However, the Molly Brown, wich appears only at Disneyland Paris, required more thought."

"We needed another boat with the same capacity as the Mark Twain," explains Jeff Burke. "We wanted to establish more contrasts and liven up the river. Nautical designer Ray Wallace, who had created the Mark Twain for Disneyland in California in the 1950's, suggested a paddle steamer similar to those that used to navigate on the Sacramento River in California." The name Molly Brown came from one of the most famous survivors of the Titanic. Molly Brown was married to Johnny Brown, a Colorado man who had made his fortune in mining, she had toured Europe, and she knew Mark Twain. This idea tied in very well with the atmosphere the Imagineers were trying to create.

So that's the official story
